Does anyone think there would be enough interest at this point for a "Force Ride" in north america similar in concept to the european "Force ride"mentioned on the factory web site.Would be great venue for BMG to introduce the 2006 models. Could be a great way to introduce the press to Husaberg as well, any comments?.....nsman

RE: force ride

Hi nsman,

As this topic comes up every year(at least), I can tell you that the interest is always high at the beginning, then tapers. As soon as it's gotten far enough to name a locale, that cuts out a large part of the interest, then it dies a slow and silent death shortly thereafter.

BMG has a dealer meeting(usually in Canada), which is a small scale version of what you're thinking, but I always thought a Husaberg "Sturgis" or "Daytona" would be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The only gatherings I've seen make it to fruition are on the West coast, and that cuts out a lot of members.

thanks,

yep, i tried it here in europe in the spring and no takers even though it included a factory visit and i even connected us to the world famous 'oktoberfest' which is just 100 miles from the factory!

if you can ever sort me a bike and i can get a cheap air fair you can count me in.

regards

Taffy

Hi Schwim, I understand venue would always be an issue.I really did not expect that there would be great support at this time.Only thing, all these "events" start small, sometimes with only a handful of entrys and in a few years grow into something big.My feeling would be to avoid "piggy backing" the event on another ie Daytona, as it would limit growth of the event.I would think that the venue should be chosen on the basis of a great place to ride offroad and the local capacity to handle such an event, meaning lots of accommodations and a friendly attitude from the locals etc.You seem to suggest that most of the husabergs in north america are in the west,I believe you are correct. Any ideas on a place in the south west that would qualify.A place to spend a few days riding for many of us in the north in winter would be an attraction.Does anyone know how many Husabergs are in the U.S.,there propably is a formula of bikes to entrys for this type of venture....nsman

There is an annual ride on Valentines weekend in Reno, Nv. The Valentine's Moonrocks Ride. It started 4 years ago as a small event. It rapidly grew to over 100 riders in 2 years and continues to grow.

Moab is a great location for such an event. You could ride there every day for a month and not ride the same trails twice; unless of course you wanted. Hotels are cheap. The town is extremely dirt biker friendly. very short drives from the hotels to the riding areas. Well marked trails. We went there 2 monthes ago, and are planning a trip there again.

So, who is up for such an event?

re: confusion causes delusion and contusions

I didn't mean to do it at Daytona or Sturgis. I was simply saying that it would be nice to host a pilgrimage of sorts for Husaberg owners whether it be in my yard or yours. I wouldn't go if it piggybacked Daytona or another show, simply because I don't have an interest to be around that many people.

thanks,

I would definatly go to one especially if it were in Moab- I think i will try and make the valentines day ride this year I have never been to a large organized ride it must be a blast.

Is March a good choice?

Reno Moonrocks is the 3rd weekend of Feb this year.
There is a WORCS race the middle of Jan. Plus Jan. is generally not a popular time to travel. People are busy repacking holiday stuff and recovering from the holiday travel and bills.
Worcs races on Feb 11 and Feb 25 and March 18

March 4 or March 11 would be good dates. The weather will be relatively warm. High desert 7000' and daytime temps in the 60's will make for great riding.

Cabins are $35 night, or hotels are $45 night.

Who else is in for a great time?

Splat,
I've been trying to go to Moonrocks for the past two years and something always goes wrong. This year I must get a knee replacement and get thru the rehab. If it works out OK I am definately up for Moab in March.
Moab is Dirtbike Paradise. It should be worth the trip for the Husaberg fellowship alone, but this Utah riding area is outstanding.

Moonrocks is my backyard. Its about 20miles from my house. I would be willing to help organize a ride, i.e. trail guide. I have been riding out there for the past eight years, so I could make a ride as technical or novice friendly as one would like. I know many other riding areas very well too in the Northern Nevada area. I think Northern Nevada would be an excellent choice: 1) central location on the west coast 2) lots of good riding areas 3) no green cards or other b.s. 4) its close to my house, but that in no way makes me biased. JK 5) Weather is very suitable to riding.

ajt,
Since there is already a Moonrocks ride every Feb. I think we should go to Moab. unkle moose and several other Husaberg riders already go to Moonrocks every year and I would prefer a seperate venue. Moab is a great place to ride, centrally located, good climate, PLUS great scenery for the non riding members of the family. The hotels are less expensive and much closer to the riding areas than in Reno.

We need a consensous on the date.
First Weekend of March or Second Weekend of March?

I have a list of hotels and cabin rentals. The best deals were not on the internet, we wrote a list as we drove through town. I can call and arrainge a group rate as soon as we have an idea of how many people are interested in going there. Then I'll post the rates and info so everyone can make their own reservations.

It can be, unless you get caught midpack in a trail ride full of whoops 8O
I always took whoops for granted since we have so many in Az. I didn't realize that many people from the midwest and northwest had never ridden in whoops. So that was an exciting experience; blinded by the dust of 60 dirtbikes and trying to avoid running over the fallen or struggling riders.

The following year, several of them posted that they were going to an mx track prior to the Moonrocks ride. They wanted to practice riding whoops before going back to Reno.

Any of those places,Reno, moonrocks, moab, sounds good to me .Does anyone rent bikes.I drove with my family from vegas to the grand canyon a few Years ago,is it that sort of terrain? ......nsman

Moab is very unique. The terrain as a combination af extremely hard rock and nice loam soil. The rock is so hard that you don't get rain ruts and tire ruts. In Arizona, the rock are relatively soft, the tires actually grind ruts into the rocks, then the rain erodes them further. We rode a local trail with ruts so deep in the rock face that our skid plates and foot pegs were snagging the sides of the rock itself, and the rear tire was in the air; high centered in the rut! The slick rock in Moab is a blast. You won't be disappointed. Moonrocks, (Reno) is another good location, but Moab is just a little better. People travel from all over the U.S. to visit and ride in Moab.

We have 2 options for dirt bike rentals. There is a rental place in Moab, but they only have a few bikes. Mostly xr's. I am putting together a plan to arrainge the rentals of some better bikes, possibly 3 and 4 year old Husabergs (!), and bring them up to Moab. We will need firm commitments and credit card deposits to do this. But I think it would only be appropriate to actually ride a rented Husaberg as opposed to a rented xr400.

I think I have developed a solution for most any objection or obstacle, so who is ready to do this?!

This really sounds like alot of fun. Coming from the Portland area, I could possibly pool with other Berg riders from this area and save some bucks. (Can the kid bring his YZ?). Sorry, had to ask. BD

someone please PM me with dates, where and in which state, nearest and easiest airport (IYHO) and even the cost of hiring a bike!

Only if he doesn't mind getting smoked by my kid on his KTM

Yeah, definitely bring the family. My wife doesn't ride, but she is a great shuttle driver. She drops us at one end of a trail ride and then brings us snacks at the other end. 8)

Taffy

Date: March 3,4,5,6

Place: Moab, Utah

Still working on the rentals. Worst case scenario, an XR250 ( or XR400 ) for $125 day.

Salt Lake City, Utah will be the closest airport. Four hour drive to Moab

Alternative airport would be Phoenix, Arizona. The advantage being you could arrive a few days early and/or leave a few days after and sight see the Grand Canyon, or better yet see the London Bridge ( the irony of a brit flying to the USA to see the London Bridge  ) and ride some local Arizona terrain with myself, berger, sandskipper, the list is too long to include all the possible riding mates, but you get the idea. You could then ride/drive to Moab with us. Eight hour drive to Moab

OR: A third alternative airport would be Las Vegas, which may/may not have the same level of attraction that an Arizona desert ride would have, but does have some worthy distractions. It would be approx 8 hour drive to Moab which would require that you have the patience to sit in a truck for that length of time with an old ex-desert racer (me) and an opinionated ex-New Englander (Tuts). It is a nice truck though and has an extended cab, reclining seats, and XM radio. I'll have room for two extra riders.
I haven't checked the airfares lately, but there's often discounted fares round trip to 'Vegas. Sumpthin to think about.
Perhaps someone could start a list of who is going and where they'll stay similar to the one that DRN makes for the Moon Rocks Valentine's Day ride.

Taffy, you can use my bike if you could get it out there from West TN. You could fly into Nashville or Memphis and rent a truck and drive out the rest of the way with my bike. It would just be a 2 or 3 day drive!!! But you have to promise to do some of your tuning magic on it if it needs it.
