Just a thread to get find out & post if you can bring a spare bike (and what bike) for those who might be flying in and need a bike to ride. Also post if you will need a bike.

Kraig

I will try and get the 02-fe501 that I sold, maybe I can barrow or rent back if needed.

Good idea Kraig.

If I still have the 02 fe501, it will be along with me for spare, hopefully maybe turn it into a rent to own program!!!!!!

However, I will gladly bring it along. It is a serious drag to travel that far to a break down that might jepodize the fun factor. I will also bring my spare box, tubes, brake pads, wheel brgs etc. I'm sure Moab will supply all the beer we may need incase of a break down, but needing simple, fundamental parts is the most aggravating way to ruin a trip.

Can't wait

UnkleMoose,

I think the people that are in need of borrowing/ renting a bike should also post their needs.

Fryguy,

there is a small motorcycle shop that stocks tubes, tires, levers, and KTM parts. Although, there is no substitute for bringing your own spare parts.

speaking of spare parts. I have never really ridden much out side of a few hour radius of home. only once have I taken a bike on a trip to ride for a number of days and that time the stator went on the first day. that was the 98 the 02 has been flawless so far

so from some of you more experienced riders what would be a good spare parts arsenal to bring?

this is a good excuse to build mine up....

ok lads

i fomally request the use of a husaberg for the force ride. my excuse is that i am from the UK and will NOT be bringing mine over!!!!

what i will say is i'll pay a fee and a retainer up front. i need to know about highway insurance and may even get mine transferred over.

i offer to set any carburation while i'm there-dell orto or preferably FCR. then again you may force me to sign a contract pledging not to 'fiddle' for the duration.

i'm looking to ride the whole of the four days BTW.

getting a lift with splat and sharing a cabin with a group of apes and the one at the top of the hierarchical tree is known by the 'woop' as bobzilla!

I can get a Suzuki jr50 for Taffy and we can paint the seat and rear fenders Husaberg blue.

My stable is in a state of flux right now. I will likely bring 2 if not 3 Husabergs or some variation of. I have spares parts out the ying yang.

If it is an XR dual sport or Husaberg converted to dual sport, you will be ok.

If it is a street bike with dirt tires, you will be in for alot of difficult riding on a couple of the trails.

A DRZ400 would be the minimum requirement for offroad ability.

All the trails do have some sort of bypass route around the tough sections, so you aren't forced to destroy your bike attempting to clear something that you aren't prepared to climb.

My son on his KTM85sx had no trouble on any trails; except when we have to back track to find all the parts that kept vibrating off the bike.

Do they have to be street legal?

None of my bikes are street legal. I have no plans to ride on any roads.
We will trailer the bikes from the RV park to the riding areas. Most of the riding areas are fifteen minutes from the RV park. Depending on how many hours each day the group(s) want to ride, we may ride in one area in the morning and go eat lunch, then ride another area in the afternoon. Two of the riding areas have long enough loops to stay a full day, but, we need to get a concensous of the riders, to determine if we will ride one long loop (4.5 to 6 hours) or two short loops (2.5 to 3 hours each). There are shorter loops also, for people that prefer a fast paced 90 minute ride. This is why everyone that goes to Moab has a good time. There is more variety and a larger number of choices than most other places.

bikes

I have a new 1997 FC600,all new devol skidplate, sparkarrestor, sealsavers, chainglide on swingarm, Welded on stock kick stand. Also parts and workshop manuals, owners manual Husaberg jersey Husaberg gloves.and 1997 Husaberg sales brochure.Bike has original tires.I have ridden it for about 15 min just long to get it good and hot four times and changed the oil and filter each time. If someone would like to purchase it for the Moab ride or other reason I could bring it to the ride in Utah,But it is not a loaner bike. $3000.00 OBO

coronaberg,

I have to ask, why have you ridden the bike only 4 times?

I couldn't have a bike like that and let it sit in a garage, (or my living room as some people are known to do).

Do you have other bikes that you ride and you keep this one as a 'trophy'?

It sounds like a great deal for someone in the market for a used bike.

more bikes

Yes I have more bikes. 1- 1998 FC600 dualsport , 1 -1998 FC501 dualsport. 1-1995 near new FE600 Daughters bike street legal,1-2000 VOR MX stock and a very nice too nice to ride FC600 and other street bikes.

Too many bikes and not enough days in the week to ride them.

Coronaberg, I have to say that I have never had a bike"too nice to ride" and I am sad to say that I have crashed some really nice bikes, maybe guys like you make up for guys like me? Seriously,I bet you have a nice collection....nsman

Taffy

If you would ride a 501, then my 02 is yours. No fee, just replace what gets broken. Moab will be different from here climate wise, I'll bring some jets. I'll likely mount spare bark busters to save hardware. The rest we can work out.

happy holidays and have a pint for me

that's a fantastic offer and thank you very much! even if i slung you the basic costs that would be the least i would accept. a rear tyre, chain, sprocket and general wear let alone an oil change: all add up.

i think i saw somewhere that AB is for somewhere in canada, are you really going to bring a pair of bikes down from canada?

Taffy

I live 14 hrs north of Salt Lake City, 2 hrs north of the border.

As of now my truck will have a 2 bergs, one for you, and one for me and my buddy's 426. Hopefully when we get back my dealer will take a 426 on trade for a new berg!!!!

I am quite confident that we will work out some terms that we will both be happy with. So now all you have to do is get there. Do you have airport arrangements?

Happy holidays to all
