Moab is about 7 hours from Phoenix. 8-10 hours is about all the driving I am up for these days.

I would really like to try Moab again. I'm sure it will be less stressfull the second time around.

Moab would be good.

I second berger's statement that we are a little wiser now, so Moab might be even more enjoyable.

'Vegas to Moab is approx 7 hours. If Tuts is driving it is 5 hours.

How about it Bobzilla and Velosapiens, do you have any other location ideas?

Dez

Sorry Bobz I did not read your post.
Your area is also OK with me. In fact it is very OK.

As far as Nevada, the east side of the state is the best I have seen and ridden so far. How about we ride somewhere where there are a lot of trees (as long as they have not fallen on the trail)? Doesn't northern utah have forests? I like what I rode in eastern nevada (Ely) more than what we did in utah.

brendan, if you've had a great ride then letv us know and i hope someone backs you up. we need someone from ely, nevada???? nope! can't think of a soul!

if 'he' has any idea about the amenities then let him come forth and speak...

Taffy

Nothing to add just want to keep it in front of everyone. I'm in where are we going & when????

As far as Moab I could go again but I think there is better ridding for the whole group in other areas. If Velo has the Ely area sorted and he has a place where we can all hang that is good for me. As for here there is a place Middlegate that has a 8 room hotel that is kinda of the same class as Moab but has private baths and we can camp also if we want. The ridding in that area has something for everyone. The late April early May works for there but I thnk it would have to be a bit later for Ely. Jump in here Mark and help us out.
Some of you have ridden a bit in Middlegate area and kind of know what type of terrain it is. Not as spetactular as Moab in scenery but you can ride ANYWHERE you want. Some real great washes and trails through the Pinion Juniper forrest. Well not a forrest like you all think of it but one for Nevada.
My vote would not be for Moab but if that is where you want to go I will follow.

Hanging out here reading about the next Force ride. From Portland, Oregon, Ely is a better shot for me than Moab. Others from here may be interested in a carpool. ??? BD

april 6-9th is easter so if you came forward maybe a fortnight before that, that would be great. anytime in march and perhaps the weekend 26th and 27th?

Hey guys,
My club has applied for an AMA National Enduro for the weekends of March 18th or 24th. If that happens I will be out as well as alot of riders from Az,Ca,Nv,Co and Tx.. We will not know until the end of October if we get the event or not.
This is the same event I tried to tie into with the Phoenix ride last Feb..

This is just a heads up. Early March may be better.

well, we took the first weekend in march last time...

and getting people to agree on a date once the good weather arrives could be really difficult i reckon.

so why not take the first or second weekend in march? what's the weather like ? going to take out a few places at high altitude and latitude isn't it?

bob, better start talking about a location. can you get on the phone to velo? he seems to go everywhere and really takes his riding seriously! he will have it sorted but i think a chat wouldn't do any harm.

so it's good riding that's needed and a bar. better still - a good bar and let's forget the riding!

regards

Taffy

Early March is too early up here in Velo's and my area. It would need to be AZ Vegas or back to Moab for that early adn I dont know any of thoose areas. We can look at My area in late april or early May and porbably Velo's the same if not just a bit later. We still had snow until the later part of may here this year.

not much of a choice with regards locations at present. that's not to say there is anything wrong with what we have but surely some of you have been to some locations you would like to recommend?

at present it looks like after easter when the costs of flights go up considerably. i like the idea of the sun in march! that was great at moab!

step up to the plate troops.

regards

Taffy

Hey Guys if we need to go in March then lets do Moab again the accomadations were good for what we wanted and since it is the second time there we have a better idea of where to go.

I'm up for most anything but for our buddies that live over the big lake lets set a date and place so they can get the good air fare

Sh*t ok then I'll throw it out. Moabtime frame march 1 -March 12 so that would be the weekend of March 2-3 or March 10-11 with the thursday before start date.

This is the problem with dealing with Motorcyclists, we are all indivuaduals and want to be on our own and no one wants to be incharge.

Come on fellas get your feeces in a sack

What about the canadian place that fryguy let us down on? lol. That sounded really neat.

I vote for bobzilla to be the leader. He is a natural born leader. I am sure it is written in his astrological sign somewhere. I also hope that he organizes and leads a ride to somewhere he has never been to before, so all of you can experience an adventurous ride, bobzilla style.

brendan

now you really do disappoint me. bob and i have discussed this already so he'll be ok over this...

but you just told bob to do everything on his own in your usual arrogant style so try to change for once in your life. we need several organisers but most of all we need clear decisions and directions.

if you want to go up to canada you need to be there in may not march even i can work that out coz it's 3" away from MOAB on the map NORTH!

question for all those lads from washington and oregon - how far south in hours would you travel? no pressure, just a mere mention that you could put 4 in a truck and the fact that lee did 22 hours driving from canada!

i mentioned to bob that a flight in march is £360 return to vegas and in april it's £460. 1.9 to 1 at the moment. maybe i need to count myself out if it becomes this difficult.

i don't know where they filmed the deerhunter (the hunt) i know they were in phily but where was the vacation. bound to be in the north east away from the core of the LAST force organised trip.

but it seems that bob is the only one stepping up to the plate at the moment. quite frankly, if i flew into the east coact and rode around a parking lot i wouldn't cry!

although you'd be counting out some, what about other areas of the USA or is the west THE place?

Taffy

The common denominator here is that Moab is the top alternative for all the respondants thus far. I cast my vote for Moab as well.
Moab is easy to do, has a marked and distinct trail system, has accessible lodging where we can all spend non-riding time in good proximity to one another, is remote enough to be unique, and we now know the area better and can make good choices regarding ride schedules. It was great last time and can be extraordinary this time.

The second week-end of March (8th - 11th) sounds good too. I am flexible on the date.

Can we now vote this out of committe with a "do pass" recommendation?

Anyone needing a ride from the 'Vegas area send me a PM. That includes those who fly in from afar and select Las Vegas as the airport of choice.

YEESSS!! I am a big disappointment to taffy! Ahh... this brings back fond memories of when my dad told me that! Wait a minute... he still tells me that. lol.
Look, I was just kidding with bob. I was razzing him about the same thing in Idaho. I would not want bob to bust a nut or pull his hair out over anything. Speaking of hair, did you know that if bob wears a baseball cap just right, and at the right angle, his hair puffs out and looks a lot like crusty the clown? Even Neil saw it. lol.

I think you are making this more complicated than it needs be. What is wrong with telling everyone where there is a spot to stay, and for riding, just getting some track logs or routes from someone who has been there a bazillion times (like velo)? As far as different types of riding, hand out a map route for regular riding, and another for casual riding. People show up, people feed themselves, everyone goes riding if they want, people bench race, then people go home. My point is that no one should have to work that hard for free, so why make it that way.
Now I will put on my nomex underwear, because I am sure someone (like taffy) will want to tell me I'm a retard and drown us all in bureaucratic thinking. lol.
