Need a little help gents...

So I got this shiny new slipper clutch. Looked over the installation instructions and it seems pretty straight forward. The instructions call for two special parts 800.29.003.000 (clutch holder) and 800.29.004.000 (gear segment) that you use when you are removing the inner clutch hub. Has anyone installed a factory slipper without these tools? If so, what did you use or how did you do it? These tools cost $50+ each and I can't find anyone with 800.29.004.000 in stock in the US.

I've attached the picture from the instructions...

Thanks for the help,

Mike

I've never put in a slipper clutch but two old plates welded together would make the one tool and the other just looks like half a gear.On the other hand,if it were me,I'd just give it a snap with an impact gun.

Some folks will use tough nylon webbing bunched into the primary gears (instead of the little segment tool). Rivet or weld a steel plate and a fibre plate to make the clutch tool. Another way to avoid needing the clutch tool is to use the full set of plates without the pressure plate. With the engine in gear, have a buddy step on the brake pedal. You push against the plates while the impact gun snugs the nut down.

I have them on my toolboard but selldom use them.
Impact gun is the best, if you dont have one, leave the clutch disc and plates in the hub, just remove the cover so you can reach the center nut. Grap over the clutch with a plier, hold it together so it will not slip, loose the nut.
Do not over tight the center nut, it makes markes and bends the half moon shaped washer that holds the outer hub, when these are dameged your clutch will drag.

Thanks Thomas!

Do you take the entire trans side cover off like the instructions say or just the clutch cover? I would think you only need to take the clutch cover off. Maybe not, I'm trying to picture it in my head... I'm in Dubai this week so I'll give it a go when I get back to the US this weekend.

If i have to use the method with a plier, i remove the complete transmission cover.
If i have a impact gun, just the small cover for the clutch.

RE: Re: Force Depot Slipper Clutch Installation

Just got done with the installation. Easy as you like with an impact gun, no special tools needed. Now I have to wait until next weekend to hit the track! Thanks for all the help.
