hello anyone,
I have a 96 FE 350 with a bad stator
sooooo that means I need a flywheel puller
I love my bike I'm having withdrawls from her
If anyone knows where to get a flywheel puller
please let me know.
thank fellas,
husaraiser

look around the flywheel. it may have three hooking points all 120d apart. they are there for a three leg puller.

does anyone know when they started producing the flywheel with the three hook points?

Or do the older Husa's hava a steel flywheel?

Don't be a shade tree mechanic,It will only make things worse.

Taffy I want to no who told you those were hook points?

Factory puller is very reasonable!

now you see to me that is a bit like saying: you can't see that far ahead at chess!

yes i know, a strange analogy but that's me.

you see, when i put a puller on something it's so i can hit the middle with a hammer. it hadn't even occured to me to actually try and pull the flywheel off!

great idea boys and one day i may even try it. in the meantime though i'll stick to lightly tightening the centre stud and giving it a phucking good whack!!!!!!!

i have a puller boss, alas it's the fine thread one and i believe they changed them in '03 so when i came to the 650 i hold at present - i had little choice!

It took me a couple of trys to get the right puller, I think the thread pitch or something was changed . My 98 600 uses a M26x1,5 Sem/MO. Part Number 6276807. Got it from Dan and Anna at Motoxotica.

husaraiser,
the factoy part #270-002-01 pulls flywheel's from 89 to 99!
Motion pro mp12 for 16.95

factory part# 270-028-07 pulls flywheel's from 99 to 03!
Motion pro mp46 for 18.95

Factory Price is now at 55.00 in 08 price guide.

Hope this helps, Boss.

best bet is to get it from Boss, but fwiw, its the same puller used on older ktm 2-stokes.

Don't use a 3 leg puller.
I have 1 just like Belgiques from doing that.
Some KTM's are the same. Chances are the local bike shop will have 1 to fit or can get 1 if you want to buy.

Word of advice. NEVER EVER hit your crank with a hammer.
The only time a crank should meet a hammer is when it´s straightened.
Taffy, a slap on the wrist is in order.

i always hit my cranks! and anyway this was hitting the puller!

i hit my cranks to get the side tolerabnces how i like 'em! if i didn't have enough then i hit it harder!

Taffy if your setting your side tolerance with a hammer you are a shade tree wrench!!

Don't mean to get off the subject but PLEASE.

the last one was a joke. sorry! couldn't help myself

we call them "back-street" mechanics here. seriously though, the local engine rebuilders who are now the largest in europe whack them as well!

the idea is to get it all loosened up. i don't use a steel hammer but a dead blow on the crank.

i use the steel hammer on the 3-leg.

as a younger man i was tryiong to get a gear off the end of my ducati crank and so i put the 3-leg on. it was a big one, for lorries i think and in the middle it had a 'super' screw that was mega fine thread.

lord knows wgat i didn't wind it up too! now i would put some heat into it but i was young and foolish then. anyway, i wound it up on the main, then the super and finally hit it with a hammer a few times. it. would. not. go!!!!

anyway, i was peering down, getting my face right in there, searching and prodding. closing one eye and looking down the middle.

suddenly!

doosh!!!!!!!!!!

the puller complete with gear went whistling past me and landed between two cars in the workshop, it had cleared the bonnet!

SOME SAY IT COULD HAVE DONE MY LOOKS NO HARM.

some tell the truth!!!

Somewhere on this forum(did a quick search, couldn't find it) Dale Lineaweaver says you need to slap the crank back and forth with a dead weight hammer to be able to measure the axial play in the crank. So are you calling Dale a shade three mechanic then? :D :D

edit: found it, it's in the doc under engine rebuild

you guys are ****** awsome
thanks fellas for a Quick reply
your all true burg heads
thanks a ton,
