fly wheel replacement

okey dokey after spending mass amounts of cash ($704) on a stator I found it came with a fly wheel. Does this really need replacing as I haven't had any issues over the last weekend (10 hours of riding).

I also have a problem with my headlight. There's no power getting to it. The switch is clean and working but I have no power before the switch. Get this the horn works tho. Over a few jumps I noticed that the headlight would flash on but go out a second later. I have searched for loose conectors and broken wires but cant find anything.

Any ideas peoples?

No, the flywheel doesn't need replacing. I always try to buy the stator without the rest and get a refund. Often it will save half the amount of money.

Seems your headlight is a typical wiring problem....

I just hooked the headlights to the ignition switch so as soon as the key is turned they are on. It'll get me outa trouble for now.

that flywheel is VERY important. only last night there was a post about the magnet falling out and last week there was a pohoto of a disintergrating one as well as a thread on the entire subject of flywheels falling apart.

ferret, get with the programme!!!!! and thank your lucky stars that you have a second chance NOT to be stupid.

I don't think the magnets fall out but what does happen is if the main bearing on that side fails, you have stator to rotor interface which destroys both 8O Happened to my 470 and my 650 before i got it

mine fell out. it does happen, sorry! they loosen and rub and if your lucky you catch them.

My flywheel also failed. The whole magnet pack loosened from the aluminium case and started to rotate inside it, just some few degrees, but clearly it would have caused serious damage if i have continued to use it. (FE501-02)
