fluctuating Idle

I have a 2011 Fe570s with a FMF slip on and JD jetting. No matter what the setting on the JD it back fires when the throttle is released also the idle fluctuates. I am at 3500 ft elevation in South Dakota. Before I did the JD Jetting and the slip on It really backfired because of being to lean. JD jetting helped but is set on the max fuel delivery and still back fires. Is this a fuel problem or maybe a timing issue? I live about 800 miles from the nearest Husaberg dealer so that doesnt seem to be an option to take it to them. I only have 150 miles on the bike and would like to figure this problem out with some help.

Do you guys have the environmental stuff still mounted on the 570. On the DRZ you'd need to remove it because it would add oxygen at the exhaust port, always causing combustions in the exhaust while closing the throttle.

Don't know injection, but with carbs, those things usualy means lean mix.

I removed the evaperation canister and the other Calif. emission stuff behind the left side number plate. Cycle buy said I needed to put a filter on the right side of the cylinder where one of the hoses from the emission hooked into. I dont think it is a fuel issue because when I adjust the fuel levels on the JD, you can tell that the fuel is almost to rich. When you let off the throttle flames shoot out the exhaust. I am wondering if it is poss. an electrical issue. What do you guys think I should look for?

you most definately can have a rich backfire!

unburnt fuel due to a rich condition can make combustion carry on in the exhaust ports.

Just a thought, are all the joins in your exhaust system properly sealed ? Leaky joins will make popping on decel regardless of mixture condition.

I can remember on the rc51 if you turned the choke on (enrichen) then revved it up it would pop and throw flames out the exhaust......

When I removed the evap can on my 570 and the additional fresh air intake for the exhaust system, there are two holes that need to be plugged. I have never heard of using a filter, only using bolts/plugs. Here are some photos:

Air intake for exhaust, small pump attached to cylinder head on the exhaust side with the hose running up behind the radiator:

Removed and replaced with the supplied allen head bolt in the owners kit/briefcase (PN: 78036024000) and copper washer (PN: 58038022000):

Removed the Evap Canister. The hose from the evap can to the engine intake is pulling the vacuum to operate the pump. Remove the hose and the threaded spigot/vacuum connector, replaced with a M6/5mm bolt, with a brass washer. You can see the bolt hole in the photo of the vacuum connector removed, plug this hole with a bolt.

Make sure these simple things are done first, before you dig deeper into possible issues.

Thank you for the Info and the Pics. I am going to do that when I get off work in the morning!
