well I won my first TT event 2 weeks ago....woo hoo got lucky, lead the whole way.....the trick is to get ahead of the guy who is impossible to pass.....14/46 is a good ratio for second gear, I'm gonna try 14/48 next time to see If i can ring it out fully before shutting down going into the corners.....
I bought a new set of Maxxis SM rains (soft front and med. rear) seems to be the deadly combo......
First SM race is at the end of feb... will have my 16.5 and 5" rear by then.... I will post picts soon of the new set up...... :D
My B-day is coming up soon If ya'll wanna chip in I'm wanting a slipper

Nice Work Brian! Now that you know you can nail the win it will be easier for you to get the next one(s). We will expect more from you :D

Nice Brian, that flat tracking is nuts I took my SMR to a local event it was a hockey rink with coke syrup on the floor wow what a blast it took a little while to get the hang but it good practice for smoto

Thanks guys !! Hey Lou myself and 7 other guys were invited to do a exibition in eastern washington...they put up 500 bucks for the top 5....its on the same surface as you mentioned....they told me coke on the floor for traction.......   so I said do you use cherry flavored coke to enhance the griptivity..... there will be some nice Jam. Rum in my cherry coke....... :D :D
Thanks for the replies I will post picts of this event

Welcome to the best racing on earth "American Flattrack".

Coked indoor concrete ST is quite common in particularly through the mid west during the GNC off season.

Such provides for very close and exciting racing.

Please provide a full report. :)

Sincerely,
Dale

Congrats on the win.

Coke, it's the real thing. Talk about sticky tires. Does it make a sticky mess on the bike?

waaay too much fun !!! 14/48 gearing kept in third allowed for exceptional power slides easy to start the corner and a nice transition into the next corner.....I have to mod my rear brake lever and pads, its hard to modulate, even with engine braking.....( only problem with the gearing is not much engine brake) I really need to have more sprockets

Dale, my bike pulled hard (3500 ft Elv) easy hot e-starts, even E started cold.....yea, at sea level she is alittle lean.....

I have never raced in front of 5000 people before.... I think I could be a show off quite easily

try these links.......

Picture DSC01923 on the first link is myself (the stud on the RH side 8O ) and a fellow Berg racer (from the Bend Oregon dealership)

You can see its all in the start.....Two guys got the jump on me, I didn't want to push Big John off to get by (no points race) so I just had to fight off Kurt...after all it was the LCQ......

The track got better with the more rubber laid down but also my rear tire was going away.....I really think I like this better than the clay.....It would have been better to move the big trucks out and throw down some hay bales.....we will go back and have a big event there hopefully.....I'll be there fo sho !!!! BTW bikes came home very clean !!
