Hey guys I'm really sick of flat tires  . Can you guys let me know of any other options i have other then tubes.
Thanks so much for your help guys

I did this http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?5090-Tubeless-for-under-10-00!!!! with liquid tape on the DR650 (just sold) It went about 1600 miles of dual sport riding without a problem. Hit an indicated 80 MPH many times and some rough trails......as rough as a big heavy DS can manage. What a PITA to have to get the tire off the ground, remove the wheel, take one bead off, patch the tube, shove it back in and hope you do not pinch it.

Go tubeless and just carry the plugs and a small bicycle pump. Flats fixed in only 1 minute.

the catches are in fact two:
1) finding service that can install and maintain the thing (not trivial task to install and remove from wheels)

2) finding places where you can actually put 100psi on the thing (if you get a flat far away from civilization you're pretty much on your own)

but arguably once it's in place you'll never have to worry about it again. And flats are a lot less common.

A good number of Berg riders in my area use Michelin Bib Mousse. Basically a dense/stiff sponge that you use in place of the tube. I've only ridden a mousse-d bike once - it felt a bit weird, but the wheel wasn't balanced and it was probably just the wheel-out-of-balance part that I didn't like.

Hi, i highly recommend the tubliss system, i have been using them for a few years, i have had plenty of flats, i use goo as well but as i run low pressures with the tubliss the goo oozes out the hole and works as an indicator for where the hole is and i just put a plug in and pump her up again, you can ride them fine with no pressure as well as the tyre stays on the bead, i did get a blowout on the bladder once in a very remote location, was just like riding with a normal flat front tyre, hope this helps

Tubliss hands down.. I have been using it for about 3 years. Watch the video and pay close attention to detail and you can install it just fine. I have a hand pump that goes to 100psi. I top it off once a month just to make sure. If you run desert tires you can run them flat no problem. I run Desert IT 120/100 rear and CST Surge I or Desert IT front.. haven't found a better combo. Hook up as well as a trials tire if you run 1-4 psi in the rear, and you never get any dings in the rim. Mousses wear out quickly and are very hard.. like running 15psi. UHD tubes still get pinch flats and are heavy.

Put some air in them. I ride a lot of desert, and I run a minimum of 24 lbs pressure in my tires. This is in a tire with a very hard casing too. I ride rock piles and rocky road section all of the time. I've bent my Excell rims and still came home without a flat. I just finished a 3300 mile off road ride with only one flat (caused by a nail). Now, how does this happen you ask? Simple, put some pressure in those tires. I've taken a lot of motorcross riders out for day rides, and invariably ended up helping fix their flats. Why? Because they don't run enough air pressure. It's a simple solution, but it works reasonably well.

i've looked into both the mousse and the tube-liss, they generate a lot of debate so worth reading up on the alleged good and bad.

personally i've just gone ultra heavy duty tubes. only had one puncture on the front and the tube is so bulky i just kept riding for the rest of the weekend on it anyway, it was like having about 4psi... amazing grip but just rolled a bit on tighter corners. you wouldnt get away with it on the rear though. maybe riding back slowly to the trailer would be okay but not normal riding.

I have been running Bridgestone Ultra Heavy Duty Tubes for 6 years and haven't had a flat with them since.
I have put probably 7,000 miles on 2 bikes with them in rocks, roots, desert and all kinds of terrain.
I run 12.5 psi front and 11.5 rear usually and use the tubes for 2 years until I change them.

I have run Michelin ultra heavy duty tubes, 4mm for a few years, never had a flat.
Pretty heavy tube but,I can notice I need a touch more effort on braking setting up for corners ,it also smoothes out the power of the bike a touch which makes it easier to ride in some spots and more trackable I find , less fatiguing. After a couple of rides you dont notice them so much.
Better than getting flats , I dont even carry a spare tube any more.
I have also had some really big hits to rims and dented them , but still no flats.

Cheers,

Flat tyre?

isn't that an ale sold to me when I was in Houston?

or was that just the condition of it in the glass?

UHD tubes AND properly setup suspension. If your compression damping in particular isn't right, then pinch flats will happen, and dinged rims.

I run 12 psi on the rock around here no worries.

I tried a Tubeliss in my FE650 front tyre and when the HP tube failed, it was instantly mid corner on the seal and resulted in a night in hospital. Only in the back of my Scorpa now. Most don't have a problem with them, but the failure mode is catastrophic!

Another catastrophic episode of the nicked liner. be careful when installing and changing tires..

The liner was nicked by the wire that stiffens the bead of the red bit when it failed for some reason. The assembly was on its 2nd or 3rd tyre and I'd fitted it all by hand, so limited opportunity to cause damage.

The 2 tools here are pointing at the ends of the wire that should be joined. It had done over 1000 kms in the desert and then 300 kms in the bush when this happened, just out of the bush and on the first bit of sealed road for quite some time.

Serious gravel rash and headplant lowside, ouch. I can't ever say I didn't stuff up the install, but I doubt it all the same, I reckon the wire was dodgy. Odds of this happening again, dunno, but too painful for me to take that punt.
