Flame out

Bike is an 01 650 w/ delorto and an auto clutch. Last night riding tight single track pretty hard 30 degrees c the bike would flame out when I chopped the throttle. Happened 3 or 4 times and it was a beast to start after this. This is the first time this has ever happened any suggestions? Going out riding with the kids today so I'll see if it happens again.

first thing to look at w/ a dellorto is the needle / nj. but if it happened all of a sudden, prolly not that.

Still did it today on my 25km tour with the kids. I tried turning up the idle before we headed out. Still had issues. The last km home, the bike stuck in first gear. I guess I'll pull the carb when I have the clutch side apart in the shop. :(

Well, the stuck in gear was burrs on the shifter star....quick fix but a process to get there and back.
I decided to deal with the carb. I had a single pull carb I got off eBay but the parts bike had an fcr with throttle and cables ready to go. When I bought the bike it wasn't a good starter and I felt the carb wasn't jetted properly so I put the Taffy jetting kit in it and installed everything on to my 01 engine. The carb is a ***** to fit and with all he wiring under the frame on the 01 it is pretty tricky to get the carb on. After some fiddling I got it all set and it was time for a test ride. I must have kicked 20 times and had nothing, not even a kickback. I walked away to think about things. Went back 30 minutes later, decided to check spark .... Nothing, wtf. Went poking around and found I had bumped off the green wire to the ignition module.
The bike then fired 2nd kick. Lol
Warmed it up and went for a ride....what a difference over the delorto! The bike has zero hesitation off the bottom. The same amount of throttle to lift the front wheel now stands the bike on the end:eek::eek: the bike seems very good in the middle and the top and pulls way harder than before.
So here is where I am. 1250 ft above sea level. 165 main, 8th notch on the clip and 1.5 turns out on the fuel screw.
Overall the carb seems to be a great improvement. The jetting kit and needle worked great.
