Fitting KTM SM wheels on a 05/06 Husaberg FE450

I've bought a set of SM wheels from I believe a mid to late 90's KTM. The rear fits perfectly into my FE450 but the front is proving more challenging. It will physically fit between the fork sliders fine so there's no issue with clearance but the bearings in the hub are 17mm internal diameter, the diameter of the fork legs where the spindle slides through is 30mm on one side and 26mm on the other. My plan had been to use the front spindle reduction kit from Jim Aim that (I think) enables a 20mm spindle to be used with my forks but I can't get a set of bearings with 20mm id to go in my hubs which are 35mm external diameter on one side and 40mm on the other. I haven't got a 17mm spindle but presumably if I can get one long enough I could get some spacers made up and just use that but I'd prefer to use the bigger spindle if possible but the lack of suitable bearings is preventing this. Anyone got any suggestions?
