I went up to the mountains up here in Oregon to a place called Mckubbins. I stayed there for a few days at the ranger station where some of my friends worked. It rained and snowed all day the first day so we just worked on our bikes in the shop and hung out.
I ended up putting Motorex 10 w 50 full synthetic and a skid plate on the bike. There were a few small flakes of metal in the oil. The second day was a nice blue sky but fairly cold. The bike was very tuff to start but ran perfect once it fired.
The trails were good with no dust, a little slick in some spots but not a mud pit like most places after a rain. There were a few puddles but overall the conditions were good.
I much preferred riding the bike on the low ignition setting; it seemed to fit my riding style better coming from an XR. The bike felt lighter than my XR 250 with three times the power.
The suspension needs to be tuned for sure. I was accelerating pretty hard on a gravel road and the front wheel would bounce off the ground real hard knocking the wheel back and forth. I had to slow down in order to keep the bike from pitching me off onto the ground.
At low speeds the suspension seemed fine. I was very impressed with the bike and all the quirks are to be expected when getting any new or used bike. I am confident all the problems can be sorted out. Overall I had a great time and the bike was way more fun than my XR. I can’t wait to ride again. As time goes on the bike will get sorted out becoming better all the while.
What a great bike. There will never be another XR in between those legs unless they copy a Husaberg in the future.
