It was a really warm day last ride and then after a quick rip I noticed the FI light, It is code 13, intake air sensor. I checked the plug and sensor all seems fine. Do I need to take it to the dealer to reset the ecu? or is there a way I can do it myself?

Hi Kanucki,
You gotta take it to your dealer to have the fault code removed, the sensor in the airbox can get contaminated by excessive blow by into the airbow area normally caused by over filling the oil capacity, sometimes extended periods of wide open throttle runs can do this, especially if it is over full.

Question.

If one had the user setting tool, can one reset fault codes?

Thanks

I dont suppose disconnecting the battery would clear the code like it would in most vehicles.

Found the problem...the wiring harness was routed too close to the exhaust and it melted through the insulation and caused a ground fault thus causing the code 13. Repaired the wiring routed the harness away from the exhaust and problem was solved. Thanks to everyone who gave me some suggestions. Code cleared on its own by the way.

Same thing happened to me one time when I had the fuel tank off and then put it back on, except I started it on the stand and saw a little smoke and found it before the wires themselves got damaged, just the protective sleeve melted.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted and that the codes clear themselves once the problem is fixed, nice to know.
