FE650S change to motard, soft suspension...

I have recently purchased a FE650S - 03 which has motard wheels, 4-piston calippers etc. Very nice bike...
... but my issue is that it feels a little too soft. Im not an experienced rider on asphalt though I have been racing motocross before.

Are there any good fixes to this problem ?
It feels as if I would have to change springs in the front and change preload on the back. Or is the only option to get hold of motard forks and shock ?

I'm in the same boat, 05 FE650 converted to sm. I checked with a local ktm dealer and they said $300 labor and about $80 for the lowering kit, they could do the re-valve at the same time.
Anyone try the lowering kit themselves?
Lou.

nobody at present on UHE rbuilds rear shocks as i'm aware although viking and i are in a scott v amundsen type race to be the first! i know that lowering isn't easy if done properly.
