I've never broken a sidestand!
just lucky I guess but have never done any of the bad stuff Pollo listed above so I've been a good boy!
but I have welded up the bracket many, many times
1) in order to stop the sidestand over extending forwards and taking too much pressure asd the bike leans over further.
2) drilled the hole and put a top hat bush in, then again and put the later pivot bolt in.
3) welded the back flick stop so that there was always the correct tension on the springs when the stand was UP so that the springs were right when the stand was DOWN!
i also always use both springs.
it doesn't matter how many parts you sell, you can't be there for the customer to see the abortions they are prepared to ride around. I have about 7 Husabergs here at the moment from customers and only one has a sidestand.
it's not cheap either is it!
sidestand
inner spring
outer spring
C hook
pivot bolt
some drilling $$$
some welding $$$
some spraying $$$
