fe600 stator to coil wiring diagram or advice

Hi guys my name is bruce and I am new to this terrific site. I have recently purchased a husaberg. I do not know the model or year. Its a 600cc single and from the pictures ive looked at seems to indicate her to be circa 1995ish. The previous owner said It would only run with a push start. But on inspection there does not seem to be any spark.
There is a manual decompression lever fitted in place of the kickstart cable operated system, I have managed (at long last) to remove the stator and everything seems to be sound inside there. The coil has 4 wires red/orange/green/black. the stator has 5 wires red/orange/black and two yellows.the only wires that are connected are the red/green and black! the other wires are just loose. There is no battery/ ignition module/ lights/switches/killswitch or horn on this bike ( off road use only). The petrol in the carb had gone "off" with being laid up for so long which make me think that it has not run for some time. (think the owner lied about push starting her) I have stripped and cleaned the carb checked and adjusted the valve clearences and adjusted the decompression system. Any help with the correct wiring would helpfull. regards bruce. Northern Ireland uk. 07869140009. :(

Hi Bruce,

Welcome to the site, first of all you need to check the stator for the correct resistance, for your year of Husaberg these are the readings you should get if all is well;

Black to Red 1750 Ohms
Black to Green 23 Ohms.

Regards

Sparks.

Hi Sparks,

Thanks for information, black/red no reading. Black / green reading of 21.8. i assume from this the stator is faulty?

regards bruce

Yep sure is, this is the set of coils that always fail. Would you like it rewinding?, to a lot higher spec than the original.

Regards

Steve.

Cheers Steve,

What would be the costs involved for rewinding? Is there resistance values for the ignition coil (the unit that feeds the spark plug)? I might as well check that out too.

regards bruce

Hi Bruce,

There is no test data available for the testing of ignition modules, but as a rule this type is very reliable.

I have emailed you regarding your stator.

Regards

Sparks.

the coils are going left, right and centre as well nowadays Steve. I'm sending 1 -per-week off to be repaired.

regards

Taffy

Ok Bruce, thanks for that, hope to here from you soon.

I suspect Taff that the ones that are going west are the later digital modules not the early annolog ones.

Regards

Sparks.

actually a bit of both. but the early analogues can't be repaired - well it seems so?

Taffy

Stevie your a star! Got my staor back installed and the berg started second kick excellent.
Now the waterpump weep hole is leaking, take it the pump is faulty, anyone know where i could get one?

best regards bruce.

Hi Bruce,

Glad to here you are back in the saddle again, regarding the water pump leak this is a frequent problem with these Bergs, get in touch with Orangeberg down under he does a bearing and seal kit replacement, they work a treat with no more leaks.

Regards

Sparks.

Stripped the pump, and removed the water and oils seals that were fitted back to back. they are 10-18-4/4.8 seals
dont think ill need a bearing, have a bearing/seal company next door to my work so ill see about picking up two tomorrow. cheers bruce
