Hi guys!
Im writing to you to ask about one thing, will the gearbox from Husaberg FE501 fit to my 2000 FE600? I have 6 gears, the 501 too, but im little bit scared about engine, it has any things which are different? I had a little bit problem, cause i had an old gearbox from FE600 without oil pump, and oil filter, it hasn't got a blockade at gear selector, 2 gearbox has crashed, now im going to buy another, but it is from FE501. What do you think about it?

what year 501?
was the early gearbox in the 2000 600? is it the trans with the problem?
what specifically is the problem?

Propably it's a 00' too.
The problem was with the selector, in husaberg with oil pump it has something like 'O-ring' and it's blocking selector, without this blocking-thing selector can put 2 gears at one time, and the gearbox is crashing. I had this problem 2 times, cause i didn't see this O-ring at another selectors even on photos. Later i looked for gearbox for husabergs, and i have seen this thing on selector.
I have destroyed 2 gearbox, now i have engine with
1-2-3-N-N-6
Before it i had
1-N-3-N-N-6

SIR!

YOU CANNOT GET TWO GEARS AT ONCE.

you need to let a proper mechanic build your gearbox.

mistakes people make
star in the wrong place
star in the wrong position

there rae three types of gearbox 1997-2000 so be careful. all the gears have different teeth.

You have to believe me, it is possible. First gearbox, I had a lucky, because i had a weak chain, chain broke, but in gearbox i lost 2 and 3 gear. In next gearbox, i had stronger chain and what? Almost all gears has been destroyed.
Star was in good possition, but i didn't put this blocking thing on selector. I will send there some photos if you want.

it is absolutely possible after a failure

the dogs on 3rd and 4th sliders rip off and as well as obscene amounts of huge hard steel chunks flying around this also dislocates the circlips and bends selector forks...

i know thanks to bolted paddle tyres and 75rwhp

problems with the gearbox are:

gears too brittle (re temper to 54HRc)

weak design of 3rd and 4th sliders ... no easy solution, can radius the dog bases

very weak circlips use kawasaki clips (see my thread bullet proof gearbox)

ive used all kinds of gears from different years with no issues, the teeth sometimes look different but the helical profile of the teeth ive measured is the same.

if in scary anxious doubt about the profile use matching pairs , the dogs are the same

Hi guys again!
I have the gearbox, its almost the same, just one wheel was different, now i have the problem with selector, you know, if you have this yellow labyrinth gear selector it have corridors, in my old selector, the corridors have 6mm width, in new selector with blocking thing, they have 8mm, my V iddles have 6mm pins which are 'walking' in corridors, is that important or i have to mount it as it looks?
And sorry guys for my english, i hope you will understand me.

the later selector forks have small rollers on them so that the selector s-l--i-d-e-s into gear: with no wear.

regards

Taffy

Okay guys, problem solved, i have took gears from the new gearbox, mount them on my old gearbox, everything is working, i have took my old selector with Small corridors, if i finish mounting my engine i will write how it's working :)
