Hello Berg-Fans, my name is Stephen an im from Frankfurt-Germany, got some questions, maybe somebody has a few answers:
Yesterday i drove a FE600 from 96, and when the engine was warm, i cant turn into neutral when running. Engine off, then it works. Then one time while starting the carburator was blown off. Timing chain worn out ? Or can it happen because of many startings ?
And from the top of the engine comes always oil.
Thank you and excuse my english :D

hey, welcome first of all! The neutral is normal, you have to open the trottle a little bit then it wil turn into neutral;) But if the engine is leeking oil that's no good, I would stay off that bike, not if it will be a project off course.

Thank you michie, I think this will be a "project", too, i wonder if it is a good engine with little problems or a worn out one.
Stephen.

I would stay off in fact. An engine that is leaking oil will be driven some times without or with too little oil, so the rest of the components may suffer from the oil leak. It isn't that a problem when it's just a drop once in a while.

if you change the clutch centre (drum) it'll be fine for neutral. there is so much to get right on the old bikes. your work begins today!

tappets
good iridium plug
new camchain
clean the carb and fit new atomiser and needle. go back to original jetting!

regards

Taffy

Thanks, first at all i will check the costs for the parts; or another bike.
Regards, Stephen.

Watch out for it catching fire when the carb gets blown off! Makes you try to work up a pee real fast...
