I HAVE A FE 570 2010 MODEL AND WENT OUT OVER THE WEEKEND AND MY BIKE STARTED OVERHEATING DUE TO MY THERMO FAN NOT COMING ON AT ALL. I HAVE HAD THE FAN FOR ABOUT 4500K'S OUT OF THE BIKES 5000. I CHECKED THE PLUG AND ALL MY FUSES EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. THE FAN USUALLY COMES ON QUITE OFTEN. IS THERE A WAY TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN IS STILL WORKING? AND IF ITS STILL WORKING WHY WOULD IT NOT BE COMING ON. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT

You can check the fan operation by putting a screwdriver or something similar between the contacts on the thermoswitch (electrical plug in the bottom of the right hand radiator).
If everything is working then when you touch both the connectors with the screwdriver then the fan will go.
If it doesn't go then you have issues.

Thanx for reply so just bridged the two contacts on the thermostat and nothing do this mean the fan or the therostat is buggered

The engine was running when you did it right?

You could unhook the fan and use some cables to connect it straight to the battery to see if it operates at all (just a quick connect to see if the fan moves). If it works you must check the cables, if not you need to replace it (after you made sure it's not the cables attached to the fan itself that are faulty..)

Yes engine was on ha ha

OK, just checking.

The fan system is pretty simple. 12v is supplied, which is cut off by the thermo switch.

You bypassed the switch, so we know that isn't the issue.

Jump 12v to the fan, as close as you can to the fan to make sure it runs. If it does, it the wiring or the connection to battery.

There is a fuse in a fuse holder in that powercable too, mine is near the frame above the rad. Check that.

Thank for reply fan works when I connect it straight to battery not sure on next step wiring or thermostat

Here is a wiring diagram I whipped up that will help you if you have a 12Volt Test Lamp. Put 1 end of the Test lamp to the bike frame (Earth) then start bike and chase the 12Volt through each connector. Power comes from Fuse number 4 under the seat.

Also, instead of shorting the Thermo Switch together as decribed above, try using a wire to the bike frame (Earth) and touch it on each of the Thermo Switch contacts. That will double check the Earth wire is OK to the Thermo Switch.

Check yas,
Davo.

When I disconnect from wiring harness at the frame and go straight to battery and bridge the two wires on the thermo switch it works but not when it is plugged in the wiring harness

Ok so if you have the fan running when powered straight into the battery and the thermo switch bridged then there is are 3 potential reasons that my basic understanding can see.
1. You have a blown fuse or corroded fuse connection.
2. You hav a broken wire in the loom somewhere.
3. You have a loose/corroded connection.

Start with the easy stuff and check your fuses again.
Then I'd check all the connections.
And last putting a multimeter on the cables at diffent points to see where the broken wire is.

4. Blown Diode

If/when you start checking the loom have a closer look next to the fuel pump housing as a bolt is rubbing against it there.

Hi sorry to hijack this, I know it's an old thread too, but I've a similar problem, we'll sort of. What happened is I bought an fe 570 it arrived in a van, everything looked fine. But I'd only rode it four miles to my friends and he noticed a weep coming from the water pump hole, and the bike did seem very hot. I rang the guy I bought it off (who is a well respected husaberg specialist, and it was his personal bike) and he said it's probably the water pump seal (which he has changed/modded) and he would send me one. Anyway I rode a slightly longer way home and noticed the fan didn't come on, and again it seemed quite hot. So after some investigation I noticed the fan switch on the radiator was bent and the terminals were touching so I followed the wires to an inline fuse which had blown, I replaced the fuse tested the fan and it worked. I then went for a ride and I don't know if I got it hot enough but the fan didn't kick in again, and there was a small weep coming from the hole again, I checked the fuse and that was ok, so was wondering 1st, are the issues related ie the fan not coming on and the weep starting (I do trust it wasn't doing it when it left the shop in the van, so could the fan not kicking in, have blown a seal in the pump housing?) And 2nd, does anyone think the switch is broken or could it be something else? I bent the terminals back and it looks fine. And if so where can I get a new one, I can't seem to find them in the uk, also what is the on/off temperatures of the switches?
Thanks in advance:)

(P.s., I haven't noticed mine to run hot. I do live in a rather cool climate, so ... Just a random thought: Any chance the bike stood for a while? Guys, is it possible for the injector to be a little clogged and the bike to be running a little lean maybe?)

- and congratulations on the bike!!! Be sure to set up your suspension, small adjustments make a nice difference on these!

Just thinking out loud, I have had an issue with intermittent turn signal operation and found fault at ground. I do know the fan worked when he supplied it with power and worked when he bridged the thermo switch. Was the ground also hooked to the battery or was it not touched?
