FE570 in SM trim

I finally got around to putting together the SM kit for my FE570. I used black plastic instead of the white. The only rub was sourcing a black front SM fender. I ended up getting one from a KTM SM bike.

I also found a set of forks plus radial brake setup. Having the full setup should make changeover a breeze: jack up the bike, unplug brake light and speedo, remove brake master cylinder, loosen triple clamp and slide the forks out with wheel still attached.

Here's a dash I made for it, complete with powerlet port, indicator LEDs plus a real ignition switch

Looks a really cool ride. Just one question, why didn't you put the license plate just underneath the rear light?

thank you.

I had the 3-piece KTM system which conveniently broke where you see I mounted it. I had just installed my reworked suspension and was testing it. Seems that at about 45 mph over a speed bump, the (formerly longer) fender and license plate contacts the rear tire. voila! broken fender. here's a pic of the former setup.

As it turns out mounting it there has the advantange of having a "pocket" created by the remaining 2-piece fender where you can store extra cable length and in my case, the resistors for the LED turn signals.

it wasn't so much planning but circumstance...

the Led turning signals are nice, but i don't use them so i threw then off the bike. Is it still the stock exhaust?

I'm familiar with Akrapovic, but ep? Got any pointers or pics?

Leo Vince is another option. Here in the US, having a US Forest Service stamp on your exhaust can save you a large fine. The stock can does not have one but Pro Moto Billet makes a compliant endcap - compliance meaning roughly having the numbers and letters stamped on it.

But I'm not sure if they ship to the US. Personally I don't like the sounds of a Leovinci that much. So if you're driving with the stock exhaust, you can be fined? :?

they'd never hear an itty-bitty thumper with all of the Harleys here...

Nice job. What kind of tyres are those ???

Anders DK

They're Continental SM. Reasonable tire in terms of performance and price. They've only seen ~200 miles so far, but it's been a combination of dirt, gravel, greasy clay and tarmac. Other than the clay, they've given good traction on all surfaces.
