FE570 Halogen Headlight

I've just picked up a FE570 and the headlight is shocking and I want to change it to a Halogen to try and get a bit better light.

Before I go wasting my time and money I thought I'd put it out here and ask what seems to be a good quick and economical fix.

Thanks

Better light for FE390, 450, 570

Agreed, the stock light on these bikes is a joke! I have a new light you might consider. I mounted an Auxbeam 6 element LED light (flood light, not spot) on my FE390. The light output is amazing! it is NOT street legal, so if you need a street legal light, forget it. I mounted the light in the bolt hole on the front fender (the "V" shaped fender mounting bracket). I wired it to the low beam circuit. Nearly a year now and not issues. Total cost was under $30. If you go this route, be careful, there are some counterfeit Auxbeams on Amazon, so buy directly from Auxbeam. I have bought several for bikes, ATVs, even my tractor. Durable, waterproof - AND YOU GET TWO FOR LESS THAN $30 WITH A WIRING HARNESS!
Sounds too cheap, but I'm having great results with the 4 inch flood on the Berg and the 9 inch flood on the ATVs. Auxbeam also sells halogen bulbs. Good luck!

Yeah you just space the mask out. I bought just a cheap maske off eBay for $22 and fitted my LED to that. The reflector is a copy of the Berg/KTM.

Cyclops 7000 lumen LED

Cyclops is a joke. MANY of their bulbs are direct re-badges of chinese bulbs widely available on eBay at 1/6 the cost. For example here is their "3600 lumen" (which is a false rating BTW) light sold from a vendor in China:

H4 18W LED Headlight 6000K Front Light For Motorcycle Motorbike Bulb DC 12V-24V | eBay

And no, it is not a "replica", it IS the same light, as are MANY that Cyclops sells. I've ordered 3 of these and put them on my '07 KTM as well as my '14 TE300 (same housing) and the light output and durability is fantastic. I wire mine straight to the battery and have no discharge issues whatsoever even at idle.

By far the cheapest solution and great light output + decent pattern to boot. Housing standoffs are required as mentioned. Small modification to the included metal adapter is also needed to keep the light locked in the retaining tabs. Don't fall victim to "paying retail", I've approached them about this in their thread on ADVrider only to have all my posts deleted and banned from that thread.

Not sure how tied you want to be to the existing headlight, and/or the mask.

Personally, I've never found oem light good on any Japanese or KTM bikes I've owned. In the search for an upgrade, I've played with Halogen and other bulb-based solutions, and have not been happy with the performance.

By contrast, starting from scratch with a good light - and I've had great success with Baja Designs' Squadron Sport series, the low amount of draw, the high amount of output, just makes farting about with bulbs something I'll never do again. Baja Designs and Motominded do bike specific inserts, so if you were tied to the mask, you could go that route.

I just bought a 550 with a Trailtech HID system that the PO had. Works ok, but again, heavy bulky, and not the way of the future.

Will be selling the whole light rig shortly as part of an extensive modification project I'm working on.

You are entitled to your opinion, but plenty have tried the Chinese cheapies with unfavourable results. Even from what I've seen they differ visually. You may be right, but....

I replaced the OEM filament bulb around 3 years ago with a HID B20 bulb kit and the light is way better than standard. Fits neatly behind the headlight even with the ballast pack. I also fitted some auxiliary bar mounted LED lights (2 spot and 1 flood) for offroading after dark and they are superb. No current draw issues even with all the lights on.

Honestly, in the last 2-3 years I have have seen very little negative reviews on chinese / eBay sourced lighting, of all types; most is praise for the given price point. The quality now is not what it used to be.

But this (Cyclops) is purely a case of buyer beware and people not doing their homework, as well as having stagnant mindsets. The product is identical, but the source is not reputable which causes hesitance. It's the individuals choice but I know I work hard to keep as much money in my pocket as possible, especially in this hobby.

Oh stagnant mindsets? We can't all be hero's oxymoron.

Oxymoron,

This is the Cyclops H4 hi/lo 7000 lumen LED.

Can you find the globe that this is sold as a Chinese cheapy?

The only one i've tried that gave good beam pattern was an HID bulb. Tried 2-3 different led bulbs and the pattern was not very convincing.

I did buy some baja designs squadron also... light pattern and output is just impossible to replicate with the stock headlight.

They all need fabrication to be fitted properly anyway, the sheet metal adapters don't quite fit.

Sicass Racing sells a Halogen S2 bulb that is a direct replacement for the stock incadecent bulb. It does work allot better than stock as is cheap way to get a brighter light without hacking your headlight mount all up and adding lights.

Interesting how you call others out when you are the one putting yourself on the pedestal by making narrow minded insinuations by insult. Try all you like but you will not offend. We are only offended by someone of prominence.

Try again, your link only goes to the EBay main page.

The Chinese products are identical. The only issue with China products is the quality control used as per the cheap price the standards are not the same. Parts during production are the same and identical. Allot of products that are copied are just as good.
Of course buying the cheapest of the cheap will not be identical, but if it is a copy than it will be almost identical.

I haven't been able to find one identical to the Cyclops LED. Can someone locate one?
