FE570 2011 front brake problem

Hi all!

Bought a FE570 2011 with only 6 h on the clock a few weeks ago. Due to children coming along I haven´t tested it until yesterday.

To my surprise the front brake lever had very little resistance and I easyliy pulled in all the way to the handlebar. I tried bleeding (no air found), raised the brake pump high in order to let any air in the hose float to the pump. No result. The little pressure I can feel is constant over time, so no leakage.

Something must be flexing? Anyone who have an idea what could cause this? It wasn´t like this when I pick the bike up and it has only been standing a few weeks.

Regards, Fredrik

I had the same problem on my 2010. Not sure what caused it other then sitting idle for a couple of weeks. Pull the lever all the way to the handlebar (or as tight as it will go)and secure it with a zip tie whenever the bike will be sitting for more then a couple of days. I have never had this problem since doing this. If u secure it for a day or so and then pump the lever numerous time you should get the pressure back. Hope this helps.

I'm not being critical in the slightest, but I can't understand why this technique would work. The cause of the problem is unknown, after all. Again, not being critical, I'm just scratching my head real hard.

I can't explain it either seeing as how its a closed system. I don't remember who gave me the idea to try it but it works great. Never had an issue since. I gave up on trying to figure out how it works.
