FE501 metal behind oil filter

Howdy!

This bike is a mix of different parts; frame from 98 and engine from 2000. I recently did a oil change and inspected the filter. Behind the filter I found some metal bits that concerns me a bit. I do not have any experience with these engines, but this cannot in any way be normal or what?

The metal is clearly visible in the picture (gently placed on my little finger)

Tnx

is it magnetic? if not, its just aluminum shavings from a potentially worn cam chain slapping the case.

They look like aluminium shavings,
+1 with what NED37 said. My money is on a worn cam chain that has contacted the cases.
