FE501 2002 stator readings

Hi All, I'm totally new to my Husaberg FE501 2002 and have no spark. After reading some of the posts I have checked the resistance between the wires from the stator and they are as follows; Red/Black 3380 ohm, Red/Green 3550 ohm, Black/Green 166 ohm.

Two of the readings are above a QUOTED "2700 ohm" and when I check between the wires and stator body I also get a reading (this should be NIL?)

Simply, is this good or bad? I do not have access to a Workshop Manual and your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Your values should be between

RED/BLACK - 3000 +/- 10%
GREEN/BALCK - 165 +/- 10%

And they look good, but you shouldn't have reading on the other things that you are measuring ??? I don't think you should have any reading from RED/GREEN ??? but I can check

yes they look good. try removing the orange kill wire while you are kicking it over?

Well that's good news so far. I will try with the kill wire removed. It will be a few days before I can work on the bike again but will keep you updated.

Thanks for your advice and looking forward to getting it running.

Taffy, if I want to start the bike and bypass the ignition switch (key) what wires would I connect there? This would eliminate that connection and also what does the high/low switch do below the start button. Is there a way to bypass that?

Anyone? Looks like stator is making power, have orange kill wire removed and no spark. Have checked with multimeter on end of plug lead and wound over and no reading from there. Is it possible that the coil is dead or could there be another problem?

It is possible that the coil is dead or the resistor cap is bad or corroded.
to disable the hi lo pull the gray wire from the cdi

all you need to run the bike is to have three wires connected. red to red, green to green and black to black. that literally leaves you with a stator spinning and shooting electricity into the I.M coil.

if the leccy boot works you want to spin it over with the plug out and the cap off the HT lead and then see that the spark will jump 10mm to the rocker bolt.

this is the abcolute most basic function. the only thing left after that is to remove the HT lead and check that the screw inside the I.M is still there and the condition of the HT lead itself.

Thanks Taffy, ok tried all that. No spark. I guess I need to get it all looked at by a pro. Damn I can see the dollars amounting already. Not sure what to do.

try and borrow an I.M but judging by the readings I'd say that it has to be the coil. I can repair this. whjat we do is run a bike up we have here and then stick your I.M on it and start it up. if it works then it's a 20 quid test. if it doesn't then it gets sent away for repair OK?

price is about 160-170 to an aussie!
