Hi All,

Just wondering where I would be able to get new seat foam for my FE450 05? I wouldnt mind getting it a little higher than standard, but just the standard seat foam would be great.

I am in Australia so would need to get it shipped here.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
By the way are there different foams available? hard, soft etc?

Thanks

i found a foam wholesaler , got some high density foam [ 50mm ] and then i got some softer foam to suit my liking . then i built the foam up in 25mm layers , until the height suited me . and then i found a motorcycle seat upholsterer who had grippa seat material .

it did not cost much to do and the seat is very comfortable .

just another option to have , so long as you don't mind the legwork . :walk:

agree with whosaberg, i took the tall seat cover i had to the car upholsterer and asked for him to raise the seat even more. "nah, he said. i can heat up the original and it'll stretch to that". so he slit the sponge open like a fish and put chip foam in the gap. that way i knew i kept the original seats 'sponginess quotant'.

Hi Pants,

I have an 05 FE550 with the tall seat from Husaberg. I wanted to go still taller so I took some 25mm closed cell foam from a camping mat and contact cemented two layers of it onto the seat base. You will have to do some shaping of the new foam to allow the molded foam to fit properly. I tapered the base foam a bit in the front so as not to have a big lip where the seat meets the tank. I then contact cemented the molded foam to the new seat base foam.

The local auto upholstery shop had motorcycle seat cover material. In all, $5.00 for the seat material and a few hours tiime and it was done.

I mounted Fastway pegs in the low position and re-welded the peg brackets lower onto the frame. The new dimension from the top of the pegs to the low point on the seat is 24 inches.

Good luck with your project.
