fe450 2005 coolant leaking from nipple under radiator cap

Hello all,
finally decided to get registered on the forum here after reading and wandering around here for a while. I just got myself a husaberg fe 450 supermoto from 2005. It's and absolute beast, did my first testride today but after 10 mins of riding i noticed there was coolant leaking out of the nipple under the radiator cap. And by leaking i mean it was really spewing it out when i noticed. i opened up the radiator cap and saw that the radiator was completely full of coolant, like all the way to the top full. Isn't that to much coolant? Don't think the bike was overheating. I'm just not sure how much coolant there should be in the radiator. Someone who has any thoughts on this?

Also noticed that when i let of the gas, sometimes the bike keeps hanging in a bit higher rpm. I'm guessing that might be a bit of dirt in the carb right?

if the radiator is overfull, it WILL spew. it should only be filled to just cover the fins visible thru the opening. hopefully, that's all it is.
as to the hanging of the throttle, it's fairly common with stock jetting. in the doc are some tips about setting up an fcr for better performance. usually, a honda ncvt or r needle and a reduction in mainjet to about 165 and matching air and idle jets does it

It could be the radiator cap itself. Sometimes it gets a buildup on the rubber seal, causing it not to seal against the radiator. Clean the rubber off nicely as well as the contact surface on the radiator. It could also just be that the cap itself is old and needs to be replaced.

A blown headgasket could also cause the radiator to blow out the overflow but may not be the problem in this case.

I have an 05 FE550 and the bike came stock with a coolant reservoir (located on right side, under seat). A rubber hose ran from the radiator nipple back to the reservoir.

Since, I have replaced the coolant reservoir/hose with a kit from Sicass Racing if I remember correctly, as the stock reservoir got a leak. The Sicass Racing reservoir tucked neatly in place (right side under seat again).

I generally have coolant come out the nipple and into the hose when riding. Let me know if you would like a pic of my coolant reservoir location.

The nipple itself can be pushed in too far thereby not allowing a proper seal of the radiator cap (this hasn't happened to me personally but has been reported). It wouldn't be a bad idea to change the radiator cap as the spring tends to weaken over time (heat cycles) and the small gasket at the bottom wears also. As Ned said don't overfill.

FWIW
If you hopping from street light to street light this can happen. I would check cap to ensure it isn't releasing at a lower pressure than required. Most common problem is worn out cap. My KTM 400 would heat in 1 min parked and release coolant drove me nuts so installed a hard parts fan and never did it again.
