FE400e e-starter sprague

Hi, i have '03 FE 400 with worn out e-starter clutch, i don't have money to buy a whole new 04+ unit and I'm wondering if i can put only the sprague from 04 model in my 03 since it is the most worn out part in whole assembly. Outer gear is slightly worn out but not nearly as much as sprague, inner hub is not worn out at all.

What do you think?

suggest you get a repair kit from me and a new sprague bearing. no need to update anything.

Hi Taffy,

Is that repair kit for the spraque (with the rubber things...)or for the two gearwheels mouted together on one shaft?
My problem is that the starter is working fine but just as the engine begins to spin the starter disengages. (I hope this is clear...??)
