FE400 & NEWER 450 PARTS COMPATIBILITY

Graphics aside, the frame and plastics on my 2003 FE400 looks identical to a newer 450. Are they? The reason I ask is although it is fairly easy to find replacement plastic, graphics, rad guards, skid plates...for a newer 450, 400 parts are hard to come by.

Is there any cross-compatibility of parts between an 03 400 and a newer Berg?
 
between an 03 and 08 basically all the cosmetic and bolt on parts are inter-changable, a mechanic can confirm, but most likely everything that bolts onto the bike with the exception of ignition and carb parts and motor internals.
 
everything in the rocker cover is the same (bar the actual size of the valves). everything in the left cover is interchangeabloe if not exactly the same. the clutch drum (middle) is different in '03 but plates and all else are the same.

the gearbox is the same.

the stroke, bore, rod kit are all different. your 400 can be taken to 470 by taking a 100mm piston from any of the various models.

Thats interesting sounds like my berg is going to grow a few cc's one day. I imagine the cylinder would need replating once its been rebored , how wide was the original 400 Piston?
