Hi, Could somebody please point me in the right direction?
My bike is an 03 FE400 with less than 30hrs use, but has never started easily. I have tried to sort it once and for all by:
- Replacing auto decomp bob weight with 04 updated model.
- Clean up carburettor meticulosly
- New plug
- Check jetting is as recommended by Dave Clark (UK importers).
After doing all of the above the bike will start (eventually) with the choke after a few exhaust farts and idle properly off the chocke after a minute or so. But after it is fully warmed up it still needs the choke to restart.
My current jetting is:
MJ= 185
NJ= DR272
PJ= 35
Needle= K51 one groovr from bottom
Air scrfew: 1.5 turns out.
I have re-checked the carb and every air passage and jet is clean. No air gaps on the rubber boot/intake. Fresh fuel.
Would the fact that it wants choke when warm indicate that my PJ is too lean?
It would be nice to sort this bike's starting before I retire!!!
