I have been having some problems with my FE400, It was running fine but never was able to start it on the kick start. Anyway it started ok with the bigger starter motor and ran fine but then it cut out a few weeks ago, checked the stator and found out that had gone. Replaced it, now there is good spark etc but it wont fire up.
Also now it has started to make a wizzing noise from the startor motor like its not engaging but only after a few seconds of holding it on.
Checked and adjusted the clearances and also the stator is in the same position as the old one but will obviously need timing when i do start it.
Anyone have any ideas what it could be?
