FE390 won't run, blows fuse #2

Hi bergers, I was riding my 2010 FE390 today for about 1/2 hour when the engine suddenly cut out and wouldn't restart. Dragged it home, found that fuse F2 is blown, and blows whenever I crank the starter.

Where should I look for the problem? It's not the fuel pump, I disconnected it and the fuse still blows. I checked the wiring diagram and it appears this fuse connects the solenoid to the engine control module. Do I need a new ECM?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

In case anyone's interested, I took the bike apart and found the wire for the fuel pump had touched the exhaust shield and melted, causing a short to ground. It is now securely tywrapped to the main harness and the bike is running again.

Would that be something that I should look at on my 2010/ 390 is it not very well shielded ?

I bought my bike used so I don't know how it is configured from the factory, but it might be worth a check. I had just added turn signals to my bike before it failed, so I think I probably displaced the wire when I pushed the new harness under the tank and through the opening behind the air filter.

Yes I know, it's my own fault for being too lazy to take the tank off when I added the wiring. I ended up taking it off anyway to fix the short. Lesson learned (again): there are no shortcuts, do it right the first time, etc etc...
