Hello All...
So I have had a 2011 FE390 that I really loved... but rode a friends KTM 300 and really liked the light feel of the bike.. just couldn't get used to the power delivery (I'm sure with time...) Then when the 350 came out I thought it would be great... nice "electric" power of my 390 with the lighter weight. Stopped into the berg dealer and they had 1 2014 left... quoted me $7200 OTD so I couldn't pass on it and figured I would sell the 390.
Finally got a chance to ride and took a buddy without a bike for a woods rip. Had a blast on the 350... light, agile and really snappy (fast) on and off the throttle. For sure a really fun bike to charge hard. Towards the end we switched bikes.... and WOW... I hadn't ridden the 390 since last year and it blew me away how smooth it was coming off the 350. Granted I have the suspension done for my weight (Thanks Dale!!) Bars and controls moved, lower pegs... ect... basically set up for me vs the stock 350. Also have the Map switch and full akro system.
When I got back to the truck I really didn't know what to think... The 350 is great if you want to ride hard and fast... begs to be ridden aggressively (not that the 390 won't) but the 390 was just so smooth and plush... and at my ability not any slower. It probably helped that it was the end of the ride so I was getting tired so the overall smoothness was very evident. My buddy is looking at maybe buying the 390 but I don't know if I want to sell it.. lol.
No real point to this post... I know I searched for many a 390 to 350 comparison all that made the switch that I located thought they had made the right move. I really think they are bikes for 2 different purposes... For fast flowing single track or fire roads or as a commuter... 390. Want to feel like a kid or do tighter stuff... 350. I like them both (would like the 350 that much more if it wasn't so buzzy) and if my buddy doesn't buy the 390 I think I'll be keeping it for a bit
