FE390 fork dampening knob doesn't stop turning

I was going to adjust my settings a little and noticed that my right fork top adjuster won't stop when turning clockwise. Any clues? Thanks

funnily enough mine does the same and i put it down to not seating something properly when i had the forks apart to change the springs.

before anyone say i got an '09 450, its running 2010 390 forks.

I've had thus issue with older forks (05) not familure with the (10's) turns out the damper rod was not completly seated in the cap, this left a gap that allowed the adjuster knob to come apart when you turn it in. needed to dissamble the knob and cap in order to re-assemble after reseating the damper rod.

its something like this that i think is up with mine. as its only a 20 min job to sort it i really should.

i've had this happen to mine.
if the thread in the plunger is a little stiff, the ball bearings beneath the rebound knob just ride over top of the groove without having enough pressure to turn the plunger on the unerside of the cap.
take the cap off.
turn the rebound knob around while watching underneath the cap to see if the plunger goes in & out.
if it doesn't,try getting the pointy nose plyers to the plastic plunger underneath & turn it both ways to free it up.
i have only had it jam up when the adjuster was all the way in ,or all the way out.
see how you go
..weed..

Thanks for the info. I did manage to get a hold of a shop yesterday and they said that it wouldn't be damaged if I rode with it that way, so we had an awesome ride on perfect trails. Tonight, I'll take it apart and see what's up.

not likly to damage anything but you may have little to no rebound damping on that leg, not the fastest set up.

Just a bit of info. My 390 just did the exact same thing! I experienced suspension guy showed me the trick. The spring guide needs to be spun down the cartridge rod completely before the cap is installed, then after the cap is seated rotate the spring guide back up to the cap. My cartridge rod rotated when I removed the cap and it had too much clearance when re-assembled and my rebound adjuster would not seat and just kept spinning. That's what happened to mine anyway.

I still haven't taken it apart (too much work) but plan on washing it today and checking it out tonight. I'll post when I figure out what's up. Thanks for the info, again.

I finally took the fork top off and noticed that when turning the knob there was no change in the needle(it should move up or down). I thought that something was broken inside and was looking for a parts diagram when my friend messed around with it enough that it started working. We turned it fully counterclockwise to stop, installed it back on the fork and then turned it clockwise until it stopped(finally) then back out 18 clicks. I don't know what exactly was wrong but am happy that it seems to be working properly now.
