fe350 It's alive

I got the 92 fe350 going tonight I had to put a new stator in but it runs now. When I got this the stator had been removed I can not figure out the wiring on the lights. It had seven wires how do I hook up the lights it has two yellow and one blue wires left over but I cannot figure where they go. I looked at all the wiring diagrams but none look the same all this has is a two wire regulator and the wires that go to the lights. Also there is a orange wire on the cd that does not have any thing hooked to it where does it go.

This info is för the newer bikes but perhaps its the same for your.
The yellow ones are 2 seperate 70w circuits and the blue is earth on a SEM -99 system.
The orange it`s to the killbutton

have a look at a wiring diagram on any FE model up to 2003. the wires are the same colour. go to husaberg.se for their free downloads or get them from this site.

I looked at that diagram but all have the rectifier which my bike does not have. So Taffy you are saying to ground the blue to the fram and hook one of the yellows to the lights or should I hook both yellows to the lights?? Thanks guys I am excited to get this thing going and then it had to snow 10 inches :angry: I owned this bike several years ago then sold it and just recently bought it back in a non running condition and taken apart. Matt

your yellow (one or both-your choice) needs to be also connected to a grounded voltage regulator (prolly any bike brand will work) or you will be popping lamps.

Yea it has the regulator and I did get them hooked up and working. If I hook both yellows will it make the light brighter?

If you are using a the 35W plastic headlamp then you should really only need one yellow charging wire (leave the other disconnected), although using both windings on a smaller light may reduce the amount the headlight dims as the engine slows near idle.

If you run the larger 60 to 100+ watt globe in the glass lens headlamp you should definitely need both yellows hooked together.

I don't think it really does much harm if you use both windings all the time for any light. In fact if you do have a large light and have to use both windings, when it is switched off all the stator output must get shorted through the regulator anyway. I figure that if the extra power is not needed, then hooking the second wire up to the regulator only makes more heat in the regulator and stator, but it probably is not that important..

Thanks bundybear This new stator must be stronger than the original. With the original thelight would dim at an idle to almost nothing but it stays bright now. I think it is the original light that was on the bike but I have no idea what wattage it is.
