Fe 650 2003, won't kick over when hot

Hi guys

Had my berg for a few months and always been spot on and first or second time starter.

Took it out today and started first kick, but when it got warm it struggled to tick over and it wouldn't re start no matter how many times I kicked it over?

It's always started great when hot.

Stator is showing correct values, it has a new plug (new today) fuel is about 3 weeks old, bike rides perfectly when running with plenty of power.

Any idea what it could be? I'm going to check valves tomorrow, could this be a factor?

Thanks in advance

is it a lot warmer than it has been? (Wherever you are  )
if so, it's rich on the pilot side. lean it down a bit.

Im in the UK.

It's slightly warmer than it has been but only by a few degrees.

Okay, so i checked the valves, they are fine, were only done 6 hours ago anyway.

im now sure th ecause of the problem is the plug fouling as when i pull it out its black, if i give it a clean it fires up first kick.

So i guess its running rich like ned says, how do i lean it down? (dellorto carb)

the temperature since i last used the bike has risen by about 5 degees c so probably thats the reason.

Try leaning off the mixture screw first, my 650 was very sensitive to that on the dellorto.

Is the mixture screw the small one to the left of the tickover screw? or maybe they are one and the same?

As you look at the side of the carb from the left of the bike, there are two screws, a big one on the right and a smaller one on the left, are these the ones you mean? Sorry to sound thick im not too clued up on carbs.

I did however move the circlip up one notch on the needle and seemed to have helped it, i wont know for certain until i have a ride out though.

thanks

Its the one nearest the cylinder as you look at the left hand side of bike.
Have a look at the Owners Docs aswell to give you some guide lines on what jetting you should be running.
