Have looked over the forum and found a few coments about this.

But still unsure on the best gearings for my new berg. I am a total newbie to the green laning scene but im looking for the best all round gearing as ive only previously done motocross.

Please help!!!

Just run the bike for a while with what is fitted. After a few outings, you'll get a feeling for the terrain you ride on and your riding style. Decide after that.

For me, 13/52 (which is OE) seems fine.

yeah ill give it a try. should get my bike the next couple of days i think its arrived now.

Wont be able to get my style of riding for abit because i slipped ove and ive torn my knee cartilage so im waiting mri scan. So i was just planning to get the bike run in and ready for when i can ride properly.

Any advice on running in? first new bike.

Like you, I wasn't able to ride my bike when I first got it as I was waiting for the registration. I used the time to get as familiar with the bike as I could - read the manual from cover to cover; set the suspension sag and blinged the bike with the stuff I wanted to fit. It's always easier and nicer to do that stuff when the bike is new and clean.

Running in - I just rode a couple of hours on the road and changed the oil, filter and cleaned the screens (2 screens).

If the bike is brand new, it may be supplied with road gearing - you should have an off-road set supplied in the kit of bits that comes with the bike.

Yeah its definatly easier and seems more justified when the bike is fresh!! ill be able to run in on the road as i planned to but any extreme off road is out the question at the moment.

I was going to do the suspension, get the bars rised, powder coat the hubs yellow and find a nice slip on.

Id realy like to go on that trip to the mountains but i think itll be next year now.

im running 14-49 it taks a bit of the hit out of it but makes it much easier to ride espesically up hills and over rocky sections

Check out the link on my signature line! (or is that what you referred to?)

Greg

That's what I was referring to yeah but I don't think my knee will be up2 it. Looks realy good just the sort of thing I brought the bike for!

I race mine and I'm on 12 x 51. I'm stuck between first and second and tapping away all the time. so I'm going to go to a 12 x 52 rear next time and try and do away with first all together. the gearchanges between the other gears will be much smoother without the gearbox going too and fro through neutral.

worked on the old girl (a 2002 FE400e) so I'm hoping it will again! I also green lane with the bike and the gearing is fine. BTW I've only ever used the soft mode....

Well mine still hasn't arrived been a mix up with delivery so it's goin to be next Thursday now so disappointed.

But thanks for the help I'm going to get a few sprockets and see what I think. I've still got a few ktm ones lying about anyway.
