FE 570 '09 - dead bike, possible fuel pump problem?

Hi

Looking for advice on fixing the problem with my FE 570 '09 EU model.
Yesterday I pulled at the gas station and by the time I rolled to the fuel pumps bike has died.
I refuelled it and wanted to start it up but with no luck, it cranked as it should but wouldn't fire up.
I had to tow it back home.

At home I have checked the fuses, spark ( although by not removing the spark plug but by just connectimg my mate's spare one to the spark plug cap ).
The whirl of the FP is audible, once I let go off the starter button.

Strange thing is, when I disconnected the quick-disconnect fuel line and pushed the screwdriver into the FP end, the fuel was flowing - mind you that was just a free-flow, I wasn't touching the starter button at all.

On the other hand, I have tried this while pressing on the starter button - the fuel flow was just the same ( by eye ).
On my past bike - 690 Enduro R - the fuel flow from the quick-disconnect was much higher, again judging by eye of course.

I have tried to put a bottle cap full of fuel straight through the throttle body / air filter and the bike fired up for a few seconds and then died.
Tried this couple of times and it worked.

This sounds like a fuel starvation problem to me but could it be an electrical gremlin?

No FI lamp flashing.
Can you suggest what I do next?

I do have a TuneECU + cable I was using on my 690 but it won't work on Bergs will it?

Forgot to mention that the bike is 2009, 61hrs, 2000 kms

FIXED!!!

Took the fuel pump out of the tank just to find out that one of the fuel lines was broken.
It's the one between the pump and fuel filter:




Great news I thougth, looks like an easy fix.
Now was the time to take the pump off it's housing, to check the state of the filter.
Now time for even better news - it has turned out that I have CycleWorks pump installed already:



And this is the state of the FF ( not bad I think ):




Off to the shop for some HD fule line and clamps and fingers crossed, Berg will fire right away.
Question: the FP seems to be a little bit loose in it's housing, I mean it moves up & down, roughly about 10mm.
Does your pumps do the same?


FE390VT - thank you for your input, much appreciated, I will remember your case for the future reference but I hope that CW pump will deliver trouble-free performance for the rest of the life of the Berg.
