Hello UHE:

My FE501e'02 is in maintenance. I'm going tol open the engine to replace piston and cylinder. In same time, I'm going to check counter balancer + ball bearing + circlip +
shim ( Manual part 2002 pag. 30 pos. 4 cod. H21024801 ). If you notice, in same manual there is a *4 pos. with code.part code is H21024301 counter balancer DOUBLE bearing. I made some investigation and I found the old code is discontinue and the new is 80030057100 balancer shaft CPL. ( Manual parts '06)

Please I would like to ask next questions :?: :

- In case original counter balancer is OK. Can I change only
bearing(s) and other parts ? Can I use rollerbear cod. 80030019000 ?

- Or, I must change all with new parts cod. 80030057100 ?

In advance thanks a lot.
Best regards
Morrisberg

i'm not looking at a manual right now so this is an opinion ok? but i believe the new counter balancer is from '07 onwards and is a pre - fit to older models. so try and check the doc for 'model years and changes' and you'll see the new double roller balancer there.

what you must watch is the mesh of the teeth. i think you should PM 'joeUSA' as he will know but you are right on the borderline i think of a different mesh on the gear teeth from that time.

if you have the later gear mesh then i think you can update no probs!

Hello Morris,

have you used the search tool to search for counter balancer? There has been extensive discussion on the subject for the last 5 years.

I have learned a lot about the 99-00 and 04 Husabergs because I own one of each.

I purchased the 04 new and removed the counter balancer before I even rode it because of the problems the owners were having with bearing failures.

The 00 has a different balancer design and in over 400 hours of operation it has never been a problem.

I am not qualified to help you with your questions, but there are several out there that should be able to help you because this is a major problem on the 01-03 models especially and in that period some changes were made that prevented easy up grading. The newer ones are more reliable. I just don't know what the specific details are, if I did I would share them with you. I doubt the part dimensions would allow to install the 80030019000 bearing in your old balancer and don't know if the 80030057100 balancer shaft CPL will fit your 02 crank either.

Regards,

Joe
