I have an fe 501 2004 model with about 2000 miles on the clock, recently it it started to leak oil badly from where the centre cases join. so i have striped the engine down to see what parts i need, so far i need a new cam chain and bottom sprocket ( i cracked it pulling it off) head gasket, ballance shaft bearings sound noise so im going to replace them whilst its out, is ther any other parts you guys would suggest replacing whilst i have it all apart seems daft to strip this far and not replace other bearing and rings, is there any other things i sould check and where is the best place to get parts from. ebay, DCR any one have a second hand sprocket i could buy?

Many thanks Paul

Taffy is your man my friend! He's currently 'tinkering' with my '03 501 and the man has some serious skills! Send him a PM!

Yea / Taffy did some major work on my 02 501, but I too want to know where to get my own spares from - direct - particularily the smaller items / specialist lobe here / packing shim there / rubber bung / items that would be a pain for Taf or similar to sort as they don't actually carry stock I believe.

For my boys KX65, I ring up Kawasaki at corby and they send the parts the next day even for his previous bike which was a 20yr old KX60. (& before anyone says - I know Kawasaki have a slightly larger and longer product range & history & network & budget &&&&&)

Also - dont assume that the items are necessarily Husaberg - needed a new front brake pipe - rang a recently franchised Husaberg dealer (no names) who said....oh..we only have info on 04's and newer. So I took the pipe off, wandered down the road to JB bikes (they also sorted out my dangling kick start lever issue when I last took it in for an MOT - see pervious posts) who made one for me whilst I waited - plus a new HT cap & lead.
So the moral is A/ find a good general bike shop / mechanic for general items / B fins a specialist Husaberg mechanic for the more tricky or specialist items & C/ find a fast & relyable parts supplier.

Item C is still the missing link in this thread. (Please).
