the big end is 30mm and the rod centre to centre is most definetely NOT 117mm! it will be 120mm. the inside of the rod can be either 37mm or 38mm. they are ususally 38mm.

but if you find a rod that is 37mm you just need a special thin roller big end bearing.

Taffy

Taffy,
I thought that they were 119 mm not 120mm.

JUST TO BE CLEAR BAHNSY BECAUSE YOU'VE NOW STARTED A RUMOUR i CAN'T QUASH...... TA!

THE 1993-2000 501 ROD IS A STRAIGHT FIT AND REPLACEMENT. THIS HAS A 30MM BIG END.

the 2001-2005 501 had a 32mm big end, I have created a stepped pin from 32mm to 34mm for the rod i found. the rod is also 0.5mm shorter. I have found a piston 0.5mm taller.

YOU WOULD NEVER FIT A NEW ROD WITHOUT A NEW PISTON. THEREFORE THERE'S NO LOSS OR COST TO ANYONE INVOLVED.

nobody knows the centre to centre of the 1989-1992 501 longstroke engine. it may be that this rod does or doesn't fit.

regards

Taffy

Hi. I hope this works well.

Please let us know how this will work on your bike. I've never heard of a repaired con rod, so it's good to know if it resists after repair.

Regards

we have the 501 and 600 rods in stock. we will have early 350 or 400 rods here at the end of May.

Great to know Taffy. I can't tell how important is to have aftermarket parts for old engines at a time of scarcity of fresh OEM parts.
