FE 450 won't start

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to help a friend with his 06 FE450.
it will not fire. There is good spark. There is fresh fuel and a clean carb (even tried some quick start fluid). I'm looking at compression next. A normal compression test is useless due to the decomp. I have pressurized the cylinder with about 40psi...with lots of air coming out the breather. Am I missing something? This bike ran good last fall when it was put away, and now what seem to be no ring seal at all? what else should I confirm before giving him the bad news.

Thanks

I have tried both the electric and kickstarter. I did try a compression test anyway. I got 30psi and when I put some oil down the plug hole it jumped to 70 psi. Seems like bad ring seal. Would you happen to know what I should expect to see for a compression test on this motor with the auto decomp?

well they don't usually just 'lose' compression?

every Husaberg will start and virtually none have no compression.

let's call its state; 'temporary', you jusdt have to work out why/

taffy

I retesed before I pull the top end. Dry compression test: 30 psi.
Wet compression test: 60psi
Locked the motor at tdc and pressurized the cylinder with about 70psi of air: no leakage out the exhaust or the intake...mass leakage out the crankcase vent.
