my 2003 FE400 seems to be having trouble starting off the starter.

it isnt engaging as such, it'll do half a revoloution then stall then next time u push the button it just spins up without engaging, hardly ever engaging?

which is the bet combo of starter/battery for a reasonable price?

you may only need the sprague modifying and the freewheel sorting. i'll PM you about them. but if you have a good battery and the two i mention above - you're 3/4 of the way there.

after that you need a quality plug, a modern decomp lobe, good tappets and freshen the atomiser/needle/35PJ/#40 choke jet. you also need the ignition timing advancing. all this is in the doc mate on the left of screen index. you can do one thing at a time or try and get the lot done. you may notice i sell a 'beefy' starter motor.
