fe 400 doesnt want to run!

I have a fe 400 02 and havent had any problems but hasnt run for about a month.

I drained the carb kicked it 5-6 times and it started, left it going for about 5 mins and it started to pop then stalled.

I have tried to start it back up and it will fire first kick but only run for about 2-3 seconds before cutting out

any ideas?

sounds like your carb float needle / seat is stuck. open the bowl drain, turn on the fuel petcock after the bowl is empty and see if you have a good continuous flow (nowhere near a source of flame 8O) if the flow is very slow, check that your tank vent in the cap is open. if it is ok, blow into the tank while the carb is draining and see if it increases the flow. (a good ******** can cure a lot of ills :wink: )

i'd say "check your stator". the red (+) to black (-) should be 3kohm + or - 10% and the black to green should be 168ohms. if the red to black is under 2.850, IMHO, it's knackered.

I had the same problem on mine, cleaned the carb and it runs great now.
