FE 400 cutting out when hot.

I have a problem with my FE 400 2002.

When really hot it will cut out but only on idle.

It starts ok when warm and you can wring it`s neck all day long but when it comes to a stop and it builds up a bit of heat it cuts out.

It idles fine when cold/warm and only does it when it`s hot.

Is something breaking down when it gets hot ?

Does it start right back up, or do you have to wait for it to cool down to restart?

No it doesn`t start straight back up.

It normally only takes about 5 mins or so to cool enough and 6-8 kicks to get it going again.

Also it may stutter a little from low revs when really hot like a lack of fuel but i`ve cleaned out the carb.

sounds like your valve clearances need adjusting

I'm 70% certain that that is a worn carb.

20% certain that it is the valve clearances.

10% is the big ????????

My old 1999 fe400 had those same symptoms just before the stator failed.

Well spark plug and cap changed, Taffy`s carb spruce up kit fitted and all seems well the bike starts and runs a lot better now and i`ve tried to get her has hot as possible and she doesn`t cut out.
