FE 390 Standard Cam Chain Tensioner

Recently purchased a 2010 FE 390 and first job was to replace the cam chain and tensioner as previous owner hadn't realised it needed replacing!! Used standard Husaberg parts and engine is all fine.

Anyway, coming from a 2006 FE 450 I still notice the 390 engine sound (tick, tick, tick) and have seen on the internet that there are aftermarket tensioners that reduce the engine noise significantly and apparently work better.

For example DJH and Dirt Tricks tensioners

My question is - should I change to one of these as a matter of course or will standard be ok??

If so, which one!

Thanks

The one on my 2010 390 is not the best either ..I'm ordering a DJH from all the reviews out there its the better of the two

I recommend changing to an aftermarket cam chain tensioner, it's one of the few weak points in the 70 degree engine. Either one of those products mentioned should do a fine job. I've used the Dirt Tricks tensioner in 2 Husabergs now and I've been very happy with it.
