FCR MK2 fuel supply reroute

Hello guys,I read in owners doc about some rerouting that could be done in FCR from left side to right side about fuel connection(supply).My exhaust has very close contact with carb in this point,so I found it very interesting.Did anyone make this modification?Is it possible to do it in mk1 and mk2 FCR also?

yes it has been done! i also had the problem but i twisted the carb 5 degrees away from the exhaust.

The silmoto headers comes very very close to carb.Until now I have twist the carb as much as it possible and also I made some dremel work in the bronze connection L pipe.Its much better but still the carb have some contact with the exhaust headers.

Anyone with pics from this modificcation?

Sotosberg,

I know what I am about to suggest sounds very cromagnon knuckle dragger, but, have you thought of taking a blunt drift of some kind and dent the header enough to give a 1/4" clearance to the carb fitting? Some of the stock headers have had that in them to clear said FCR fuel inlet, I believe mine did on my 04. In fact I dented it in a bit more to increase the clearance, and then wrapped the mid section with heat tape to help keep heat away from the carb. http://www.designengineering.com/produc ... m=sp&pid=9

I talked with Dale Lineaweaver once about changing the fuel inlet to the other side of the carb. He said he thought it would be possible, which I'm sure most things are with Dale's expertise, but, I never followed up with it.

So, if you want to pursue it give Dale a call.
 
Hi Daleo,today I made some work with carb:

1)The fuel connection machined a little bit more with dremel
2)The carb remained 3 degreesleft side and
3)I tide the carb with a tie rap into the chasis central beam

After that now the carb have a respectable distance from the exhaust headers,close to 5 mm and the next step is to fit some of the tape you recomend me for thermal protection

As I show the reroute is possible but needs mechanics work,I am sure that Dale will do that easy

So finaly I made it with easy way :D
