Hi,
just bought a 96 fc501.
It has kick start only, is there any way to convert it to electric start ?
For further questions about why i want to do that : Using that engine on a go cart, so the kick start handle position is not suitable for me.

Any thoughts, suggestions ?

Thanks

I would think as a last resort You could make a machine like MotoGP do that turns the rear wheels.

No

No No NO... ;-)

Huh...I suddenly realized how lucky I was. I found a '96 Berg FC 600 engine on Craigslist a few years ago and now I know why. The guy selling it had bought it for a similar go kart project and now I suspect that he found out that you can't add the e-start to the early non-e-start engines. I can't imagine how awkward it would be to kick start a go kart.

In short, Wilsonsan, the only way to add e-start to an FC501 would be to change to the engine cases and crankshaft of a pre-2001 electric start engine. You would also need the starter its self, the counterbalancer, the...

Ya know, your best bet would be to sell that engine and buy one with e-start because you'd basically need the whole engine anyway.

not many of them going around for sale in Estonia. Husaberg engine will fit the best. It has chain on the right side, so i not many mods needed for fitting.
Okay, got my answer.

Thanks for the help :)
