I have a 2000 FC501 and my exhaust is in pretty bad shape, sound is too loud and it feels like it's drilling my ears (and everyone else's too)

Can I change the the end can only or do I have to get a full exhaust system?

If you can find an stock FE muffler it will be much quieter. However, any muffler can be adapted to fit your bike. Any muffler shop should be able to make up the slip on pieces you need, and weld them onto a new muffler that would adapt to your bike.

You might try ebay and see if there is a stock muffler available from a new bike, say a 2005 FE 550 or something, and have a shop make that fit on your bike. It would be the closest thing to what you have now as the 2004 used a ball and socket type of joint that leaked.

Check the center to center mounting points on your muffler, and then compare them to what you want to buy.

Or you can probably buy an FMF Q series pipe and make that fit.

Thanks very much for your reply.

I was looking into FMF exhausts to be honest, but was not sure which one would fit.

Having refined my search to Q series, I can see them fitting easier to the stock headers.

DaleEO,

I found this muffler:
FMF TI Q MUFFLER S/A

It says it is for the CRF450 and I know for sure it requires some messing around to fit on the stock headers, my question though is whether it is suitable for my Berg since its displacement is a bit over CRF's.

Another alternative is to derestrict my LC4's stock muffler, but I think this would not make things any better, neither technically nor visually.

I am having a hard time finding a suitable exhaust

Sorry for the late reply,

Where are you located? Have you got pics of the exhaust?

Thanks

My quest for an exhaust has reached to an end today

First, I removed the seat and the rear fender

And here you can see the state of the muffler

Next, I have to remove the headers

And here are the new headers

Finally, the complete exhaust on my bike

Of course, it couldn't go entirely well and I screwed the screw that bolts together the headers when I realised I should have done that AFTER i fitted the muffler.

Anyway, the mission was a success!

Many thanks to Taffy  , my Berg now runs better  and sounds meaner  .

Nice looking Berg! Just bough a 400cc FE 2000, and i was wondering where did you buy your plastic kit and exhaust system?? Im kinda bored to my yellow-blue colouring, so i would kill for a black kit!! I live in Finland and I'm having problems to find a proper Husa- Dealer!
Thanks, Joonas.

The plastic kit was all ordered through the main Husaberg dealer in Athens, Greece.

However, the fender, number plate and fork protectors you can get from KTM as well.

The exhaust system was found after asking Taffy, he had one handy, so I was lucky, because I could not find anything on the net and the stock end muffler was around 750e from the husa dealer.
