FC 600 standard Gearing???

Hi folks,
What should the standard gearing be for my 2000 FC600?
Mine came with a huge front sprocket and a small rear sprocket like it might have been used for supermoto or something.
I barely get it out of 3rd gear around the local tracks (Still another 3 to go!).
Cheers,
Ross

I think standard is 15 / 48 from memory. It is listed in manual which should be in download section or on the husaberg.se site I think. I run a 14 on the front.

15 -42 is stock. The 501's came with 15-48. It's not uncommon to
race in 3rd gear for the entire motocross race with an FC600.

It's the fastest way around the track-never shifting.
Plus there's not a bike built today that will outrun your bike.
It will top out at about 107 mph, but will put around at 1 mph with ease.

Husabergs have always been way ahead of the competition.

I've got myself some new sprockets - 14 tooth front & 48 tooth rear.
I'm going to fit them before the weekend and I'll let you know what difference it has made.
I'll also count the teeth on the sprockets I'm taking off - I think it's something like 16 front, 42 rear, but it's way over-geared for the tracks I'm riding in it's current state.

Ross,
16/42 is a seriously tall gearing..that would fly on a road once it got wound up! going to 14/48 it feel like a different bike. I run 15/48 on my 501 which gives really flexible riding on all the surfaces I ride on. if you want to try a few different sprockets I got a 44, a 49and i think the other is a 50 or 51. I assume you are in UK. I 've also got a 15 front as well. Do not recommend the big one as my 501 wheelied like you would not believe! And tried to rip my shoulders out of the sockets!!!

Hi Scouser,
Tried to fit the new sprockets tonight - front sprocket OK, but the bolt-holes on the rear sprocket didn't line up with those on the hub - BOOHOO!
Got the new sprockets off ebay,so I've emailed the fella to see if he's got the correct replacement or if he's gonna refund my money.
The new rear sprocket I've got is stamped KTM, but they must not fit the 2000 'Bergs.
The original sprockets were in fact 16 front, 45 rear which was scary fast if you could ever find somewhere long enough to open her up, but not much use round the local tracks (Drumclog & Priestland).
I'm now running 14front, 45rear and hope to get the 48 tooth rear delivered and fitted for the weekend.
If the fella's not got the correct sprocket, how much would you take for the 49 rear + postage up to Glasgow?
What year is your 501? - Will you sprocket fit my year 2000 600?
To answer another question regarding fork seals - I dunno if you can get synergy seals in the UK.
I just got replacement Husaberg (KTM) seals from DCR.
I think I'll try the strip down and rebuild approach the next time the seals start leaking / weeping.
By all accounts the seals seem to last for ages if kept clear of crud and would save a few bob buying new ones.
Cheers,
Ross

Finally got my new rear sprocket fitted.
My rear wheel must be '99, because the later sprockets don't fit.
Old gearing was 16 front, 44 rear.
New gearing is 14 front, 48 rear.
WOW!
What a difference this makes.
So much easier to control through low speed corners and the ratios are much more useable.
3rd gear gives an excellent spread from med/low speed corners to blasting down the straights.
Now I've just got to work on my fitness so I can hold onto the thing - YEEEHA!
