fc 600 back fires with flame

hi everyone,just bought my first berg and i love it ..i don't know if this is a problem,but the bike back fires with a flame..is this normal.i have only ever had two strokes before...
would be grateful for any help/comments.......thanks

I've also got myself a 2000 model FC600 recently.
I fully agree that this bike ROCKS!
When you say the bike backfires with flames, do you mean on the over-run?
My bike does this too.
I thought it was just unburned fuel burning in the exhaust when coming off full (or wide) throttle.
I thought this was kinda cool, but apparently maybe not?
My previous 4-stroke roadbikes (GSXR 750's) have all done this.
What year is your bike?
Any chance of posting a photo?

hi ross, thats what happens with mine when i let the throttle off.will look at what was suggested by dale....my bike is a 1997 fc 600..cant get photo to upload yet :bounce:
